Here's a list of some other 70s artists and rock bands you should consider reacting to (I know you're already aware of Zeppelin, CCR, Rush and Jethro Tull): - Steppenwolf - Bad Company - The Guess Who - Black Sabbath - Uriah Heep - Yes - Strawbs - Genesis - Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Grand Funk Railroad - Pink Floyd - King Crimson - The Moody Blues - Elton John - The Allman Brothers Band - Frank Zappa and The Mothers - Peter Frampton - Rainbow - Max Webster - Electric Light Orchestra - David Bowie - Roxy Music

I don't know who Max Webster is, though I do know that STATUS QUO are the best and greatest Rock Band in history. Peter Frampton is a soft penis. Yes are directionless Prog rubbish. If you are going to include The Guess Who then the natural thought process would be to include BTO. Randy Bachman was in both Bands. The Strawbs were a Right-Wing Conservative anti-Union group. There are some cool Bands on your list though. Bad Co. are way good.

Pink Floyd 11 and Almond Brothers 15 ? I'm hoping this is random. All and honestly all great bands. Saw most of em in the 70s or 80s. Live ? Gotta give it to Pink Floyd #1. Jam band ? Almond Brothers can take a 3 minute song and turn it into a 30 minute masterpiece. Just my opinion. This guy is digging a bunch of deep holes if he's unfamiliar with 70s music. I'd do it again. Peace ✌️

*DEEP PURPLE fun fact:* ---------------- How's this for an interesting statistic... Deep Purple has put out at least one album in each of the last seven (7!!) decades that charted at #20 or higher, somewhere in the world. The first to reach a Top 20 spot was released in 1968, and the most recent was released in 2020. Each of those points is remarkable alone, but combined it's absolutely awe-inspiring!
@ninoorjon

In fact, they released at least 2 albums per decade, which at least got into the top 10 in the charts of different countries (except for the first three albums), and 11 albums took the first place. in the 60s - 3, in the 70s - 7, in the 80s - 2, in the 90s - 4, in the 2000s - 2, 2010s - 2, 2020s - 2 and they are preparing more one album that I'm looking forward to. ☺

What is different is that this was groundbreaking stuff in the 70's, they along with Sabbath and Zep were creating a new genre, louder and faster than anything that had gone before. It was new and had a level of excitement about it because of that. That excitement cannot be repeated, but there is lots of fantastic music around today. You just need to keep an open mind and listen out for it.

No overdubs och fixing with anything. And that goes for almost every live recording of Deep Purple, exect for some of the Nobody's Perfect live album.

This song was born on a tour bus going to Portsmouth UK in 1971, when a reporter asked the band how they wrote songs. To demonstrate, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore grabbed an acoustic guitar and began playing a riff cosisting of a single g repeated over and over, while vocalist Ian Gillan improvised lyrics over the top. the song was refined and was performed that same night.

Lazy is another song that is high energy. Child In Time showcases Ian Gillen five octave range. In 73 there was a band called Hocus Pocus . They were performing Focus on The Midnight Special television show but there wasn't enough time for them to perform their song or so one would have thought. The song in normal time is a trip. But to watch them do the song in double time it's hilarious. They were a Dutch rock band. I've been a Rancher for seven decades. I am as much old country music as anything. Country had a lot of great guitar players like Chet Atkins, Roy Clark, Les Paul, Glen Campbell,....... 🤠🏞️🐂

No need to feel bad man, there is just so much music in the world now. When this was released there was less than 20 years of rock output to be aware of, now there is almost 70. plus the digital age has made it much easier for more bands to get exposure and therefore add an even greater amount to the pool every year. Health warning for playing Highway star in the car though - it has a magic effect increasing gravity under your right foot.

Time machine -- exactly. Hearing this takes me back in time. I used to play this back when I had a '70 'Cuda -- "Go Mango" orange, black vinyl top, 383 with a "Slap Stick." Kids aren't allowed to even look at pictures of that car today without wearing a helmet. ••• Headphones now are amazing, but not the same as big honking speakers that vibrate your whole body. You've heard of "muscle memory." Well, my generation has that, only for music. You should make a list. Get your grandpa's tower speakers and amp out of his attic. Then go someplace where they fire elephant gun rounds at atlas stones and crank it up 'til your bones vibrate. Wear earplugs, and pull them out to adjust. Wouldn't want you listening to Stevie Ray Vaughn's first note for 35 years like me -- MCIT (mild concert induced tinnitus).

This is the greatest live version of any song ever recorded. The intro sets it up, then it just kicks ass from beginning to end, and only gets more intense as it goes on. It's worth listening to the "Machine Head" studio version (which is great BTW), just to appreciate how elevated and amazing this version is.

14:59 to 16:11 Very well said and true from a 68 year old who was there for it at the beginning. And an old still wanna be drummer who played some of these tunes on stage. I miss that most of all. We had no auto tuners, it was all real and raw. And FUN we would play for free set up outside of some ones house on the sidewalk. All we needed was electricity which the house gave us. We won trophy's at battle of the bands. We just loved to play. And yes we felt the music it got into our soul and took us to a different state of mind. End memory lane. Thank You again for taking me there.

I am so glad you've got a place in your heart for old school rock. These guys laid the foundations of modern rock. Lars Ulrich of Metallica raves about them and has done since he was a child. It's perfect in its imperfection. No two nights were ever the same with this band. Solos, length of songs, tempo......it all depended on the day. They were very much in favour of ebb and flow, when the song gets exiting the music speeds up a little bit which adds even more excitement. Keep the music coming, I'm loving your reactions
