Folks, this is the early version of “Highway Star”. They performed the song right after they wrote it in the bus. So this is 1971 performance on german TV. So this is “demo” version of the song. Just phenomenal how Ian Gillan singing on the go.

Gillan really made "mistakes" during this live version, but the way he compensates with improvisation or turnarounds is fantastic and inspirational. This "imperfect" version is one of my prefered.

I remember seeing deep purple back in the early seventies on Don kirshner's Rock concert. It was on a weekend and I was allowed to stay up late and watch it. Then when live from Japan was released I bought the vinyl which I still have. DP still rocks.
