LYRICS
Can you remember, remember my name?
As I flow through your life
A thousand oceans I have flown
Oh, and cold
Cold spirits of ice
Ah, ah, all my life
I am the echo of your past
I am returning, the echo of a point in time
And distant faces shine
A thousand warriors I have known
Oh, and laughing
As the spirits appear
All your, all your life
Shadows of another day
If you hear me talking on the wind
You've got to understand
We must remain
Perfect strangers
I know I must remain inside this silent well of sorrow
A strand of silver hanging through the sky
Touching more than you see
The voice of ages in your mind
Oh, is aching with the dead of the night
Oh, precious life
Your tears are lost in falling rain
And if you hear me talking on the wind
You've got to understand
We must remain
Perfect strangers

This and Stormbringer are probably my favourite Deep Purple and gives a nod to both Ian Gillan and David Coverdale's stint with the band. That being said the beginning of Child In Time Ian Gillan's vocals give me chills.

Yes, definitely. And, growing up with both "Made in Japan" AND "Made in Europe", I also fell in LOVE 💕 with The Voice of The Singer of "You Fool No One!" 😊 on that Amazing Live Album!, David Q. Coverdale, VIII 😳 😊--with that Deep, Rich, And Wonderfully **Soulful Voice!** 😊 I also Enjoy and Highly Recommend Deep Purple's 🟣💜 studio album, "Burn!" 👏 👏 👏 ... with the only Caveat with All of this being that I Usually Can't Stand Glenn Hughes's Screaming voice. For example, when David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes sing duets--with Glenn Hughes taking the high voice--I AM ALMOST ALWAYS **GREATLY ANNOYED BY HUGHES'S SCREAMING!** 😡

@@bluewater3783oh yeah, Coverdale has an amazing voice as well and was a perfect replacement for Gillian. I do find it funny that Coverdale had to go and mess with his face back in the 80s, he went from boyish charm to old man trying to look young. But his voice stayed on point!

Hey..it's nothing to do with Greek spelling and pronunciation you moron It's the name of a very famous musician, which if he is a fan of the band, he must have seen in print many times. It's a 3 letter word for fucks sake, not really difficult whatever your nationality. Notice he spelt Ritchie Blackmore perfectly, but couldn't manage the same with JON? I put it down to ignorance rather than language difference. You put your head back up your ass and go back to sleep now.

I don't know about everyone but I grew up in this Era, listening to the greatest rock music ever made the bands were on such a roll with music, the albums, the tours all of it was so so good. I feel blessed to have experienced it all. I'm 62 years old and still can't get enough of it. Rock music of the 60s and 70s will live in my heart forever!!!

At 52 I ruminate daily on thoughts that I have either died and moved onto some sort of purgatory, or I am an amnesiac alien visitor from a land that resembles this place but a world with a soul. Everything about this song speaks masterpiece. It's 2021. I remember hearing it on FM radio, when it first came out in 1984, and I was blown away by the sheer quality of the lyrics, Ian Gillian's singing, the sound and production, Jon's iconic keyboard intro, and the band's overall musicianship. Technically, sonically, and conceptually, this is a brilliant piece of music, and it is my favorite Deep Purple song of all time.

My very first intro to this masterpiece, my older brother was blasting it from his upstairs bedroom. Totally mesmerized, I sat at the bottom of that staircase, getting goosebumps from a song for the first time...I was 6 years old, and that was almost 40 years ago. Still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. I'm forever grateful to my brother for passing down his knowledge of all things great, especially his kick-ass taste in music.

I am so amused by the comments saying Deep Purple and Blackmore were underrated or not recognized. They were one of the biggest bands in the world for years and mad a gazillion $$$. They were the epitome of 70’s British rock stars. I mean, it’s cool to imagine they are your own little cult band or something but “Live in Japan” was the biggest selling live album ever at the time it came out. Don’t worry, folks. They did very well for themselves.

Back in the day in Bulgaria, before the internet and 'social media', a rumour reached us(probably a week after the album's release) that DP have a new album out. My mate, a mad fan of them, disappeared for a week with his monthly wage in his pocket. His wife didnt know where he went. He came back a few days later with an LP in his hand. I suspect he went to Serbia(without a passport, we needed visas back then) in order to get it.

Im a Japanese in my twenties My boss, who is in his 60s, recently recommended them to me I watched a lot of live videos of deep purple I was really shocked and have been listening to them everyday while drinking like crazy If it had existed in my time, I would have joined the fan club for sure They are the best like God. I listen to them more than BTS Ritchie Blackmore is really cool I also like the Hammond organ I'm using a translator

@@charisdark Yes LZ is great band, but DP have thier magic instrumental power. Also LZ is popular in USA, but not in Japan, sorry. Never get the phenomena of LZ in America, as for me it is regular blues rock band, and even Free with Paul Kosoff were more intresting than LZ. Pink floyd are great too, but they ain't hard rock band.
