It's a great album indeed, but the thing is that it got unjustified hate... The production was poor, the marketing was done in a bad fashion, Glenn was struggling with alcohol, Iommi was fighting for making it a solo album away from Black Sabbath's shadow... But it stood the test of time...

when I was still on Facebook I asked Glenn a question about a certain bass he was playing in a photo and he sent me a nice explanation about the bass and was really gracious and down to earth. He also answered questions I asked about Trapeze and John Bonham .

Lovely to hear a bit about the background for FUSED. It's a phenomenal album ("Grace" is one of my favourite rock songs of all time), and such a shame that more wasn't made of this at the time and subsequently, although it's great to know it has a good place in the hearts of those who know it. To Glenn and Tony, IF you're ever in a position to work together again please do!

I completely understand why Dave Holland was removed from the mix when Tony decided to release the DEP sessions, but another casualty in all of that was Don Airey: You can barely hear him in the mix, and of course, there were a few things that were changed from the "Eighth Star" bootleg that they were discussing. Fans definitely owe it to themselves to find a copy, which absolutely blew us all away when it leaked. As a brave survivor of the Sabbath show in Detroit in '86 -- "Come on, Glenn!" -- "Not the Same" absolutely resonated, and he references the whole experience in this interview ("I was not the man I am today.")
@simplebutnotsolongname6642
@simplebutnotsolongname6642 9 ай бұрын
And that decision did not age well as Dave turns out to perhaps not have done any of those horrible things he was accused and convicted of. Either way, Tony messing with the Original recording and redoing it was a crime as that recording session was brilliant with everyone, including Neil Murray (aside from the at times quiet drum mix). I can only hope he still kept it as it was and acknowledged all this.

I actually have always felt bad for Glenn having to agree to do a Sabbath album. He was not comfortable doing that at that time. On it's own it's a very nice album actually but I always felt bad for Glenn. I absolutely LOVED Fused and I am very into Glenn's other music. Very unique voice

While it's always great to hear classic Sabbath perform together, I hate that it prevented Glenn + Tony from touring for Fused. That needed to happen. I didn't like Seventh Star at first, because it lacked the heaviness of the earlier albums. But then my tastes changed a bit. I started to appreciate Hughes' powerful voice and the expanded palette of Iommi's playing. And the songs themselves really stick in your head. Go back to it in a few years. You might hear it differently.
@jjvladimir6070

Very true. But whether Seventh Star is credited to Iommi or Sabbath, it's still one of my favorites, right up there with Eternal Idol and Vol 4.
@jjvladimir6070
@jjvladimir6070 7 жыл бұрын
And it's worth noting that pretty much every Sabbath album from Seventh Star until 13 has a lineup with only Tony as the original member. (With the exception of Dehumanizer, which reunites the Dio era lineup, and Cross Purposes, which has Geezer.) Record company decisions aside, one could argue that those are all Iommi solo albums in a sense. All those Tony Martin albums sound more like Seventh Star than anything the Ozzy lineup recorded.

I really like Cross Purposes. I even like Forbidden (although it had to grow on me.) There's an alternate mix of Forbidden floating around on KZbin. No vocals but the music sounds way better than the official release. Alright Iodinesoul, have a good one.

I'm a huge Hughes fan I adore this man but one thing I dont understand is he says he wasnt great guy back in the 70s and 80s and yet he says alot of the people he knew back then are still his loved and dear friends to this day. Now my question is being a drug addict and abit aloof about it back then I know from experience unless you are a king or something you can have that many close friends through out your life so what is his secret ? What gives? That being said Glenn hughes is very talented love the guy! \m/

Glenn was in a bad, bad place in the 80s. Iommi had to replace one of his best friends behind his back. Ray Gillen followed the band for like 5 or 6 shows, on stage, watching Glenn sing, learning the lyrics and melodies. Glenn was the last one to know he was being replaced, and still, he invited Ray Gillen to sing in Phenomena II, or Tony Martin in Phenomena III. Right before Ray Gillen passed away of AIDS in 93, he spent a couple weeks at Glenn's house in LA trying to improve his shape. Thats the kind of guy Glenn is.
