If, like me, you were not at all impressed by 'Slaves and Masters' and DP's attempt to reinvent themselves in the contemporaneous musical clime then I do suggest you give this a listen - the quality is not great but still worthy enough to appreciate. Yes, the actual album remains a historical anachronism in the Purps' oeuvre but this is still our beloved DP 'doin' there thing' and delivery a great concert. Ian G maybe our Purple man but, in hindsight, let us not chastise Joe for 'filling in' at this time. This is well worthy of your time if you are Purple fan - don't dismiss it for this is a fantastic concert! P.S. it only contains the best tracks from 'S&M'!

+Vincent Budd Good points, but Fortune Teller would've made a great live number, and Wicked Ways was dropped too quickly. Only my view.

Ich war auch da und kann mich noch gut erinnern. Vixxen im Vorprogramm. Dann kam Ritchie`s Techniker auf die Bühen und checkte Ritchie`s Gitarrenanlage. Die war ohne PA viel viel lauter als Vixxen zuvor ;-) Dann Start mit Burn! Ein kluger Schachzug, um die Fans zu überraschen und Turner Zweifler milde zu stimmen. Der Turner war leider auch bewegungstechnisch eine peinliche Nummer (wie immer). Hat aber klasse gesungen! The Band was on fire!

Ich war auch da. Mein zweites Purple Konzert. Kann mich ebenfalls an das Konzert sehr gut erinnern. Aber an die Vorband habe ich keinerlei Erinnerung.

Andreas Schulz Ich meinte die damalige Aaufnahmetechnik ? Klingt nach DAT Audience Recording, Mini Disk stand kurz vor der Einführung ... kommt klangllich im Aufnameergebnis einer Soundboardaufnahme ziemlich nahe ! Ein klassischer walkman hätte übersteuert. Großartig mitgeschnitte Audience tape !

Joe's a better singer than Ian, especially these days. Gillan wouldn't sing Coverdale songs which is bad grace to the Purple fans as David and Glenn sang his. I don't think Gillan had the power to sing Burn and Mistreated. It's unlikely Ritchie would play Tommy Bolin songs, again disrespectful as Bolin played five of his in 1975/76.
