Diving direct from prison in austria to munich, the show starts late this evening in 1977... Richtie still had his stagecloth on, just checking his health, everything was okay and than the hammershow started, vs an bursting kill the king, protometal/ heavy rock. All 5 kicking some butt, strong rythm, astoni Keyboards, sharp guitar, amazing vocals. Blackers using an tape delay, phaser, also distorted sound, vs the taurus bass pedal. Great sound, great concert, great musicians.

I saw this tour in 78 at the Saint Paul Civic Center. Believe it or not, the two warm up bands were Cheap Tricks second US tour, followed by Pat Travers before Rainbow. At the time, had no idea who Dio was, but Blackmore, it was his birthday the night we seen them. He opened up with Somewhere Over the Rainbow on his guitar, threw it up in the air and never came down. I was 13, what a blessing to be at that show. And it only was 8 bucks for a ticket, I took 5 people. Thank you Scott for this amazing video and bringing me back in time. I turn 60 in 5 days. This is my present.

Doesn't anyone ever question why Ritchie Shuts down the soundboard(blows it up)?. Most see it as smashing the guitar, but even then, I never hear mention of that--All I know is all stage clowns did not get Ritchie's guitar frequency recordings this particular evening, and many others as well--10/31/2024

This October '77 Rainbow concert is MY runner up after the FANTASTIC Led Zeppelin concert at Madison Square Garden in July '73. Purple at California Jam in April '74 comes in at number three. The 1973 Zeppelin U.S. tour & set list simply cannot be surpassed by anyone. Not even Zeppelin themselves. Led Zeppelin 1969 - 73 were THE SHIT! From 1975 Zeppelin lost their superiority to Rainbow. In '75 Jimmy Page began using smack & didn't kick it until '86. He was a mess/played sloppy.🌈Ritchie NEVER lost control musically.
