That made me very sad. The music that these people make draws you in to the point that you feel like a friend almost, any body know what I mean? I cried as if I had just lost an actual family member. The music and the musicians abilities can be a very strong emotion and I'm thankful that I can feel it. God Bless you JL and thank you for the music that was left behind for us to cherish the rest of our lives.

Had a chance to meet Jon when he did a public talk at a local college music department a year before he died but I couldn’t get away from work. Regardless I feel I knew him as a “friend” (as many surely do) because his music has been there throughout my life. What a player what a person and what a band.

I had no idea Jon Lord had died. This is brand new news to me. And sad news. Very glad I got to see him rock his organ a couple of times (literally!, back and forth, as anyone here can probably imagine). Child In Time & those totally psych-you-out intros to Perfect Strangers & Knocking At Your Back Door are what I immediately remember when I think of seeing him live. Heart of the band indeed.

Don Airey has always been a great auxilary keyboardist. Jon Lord's are some rather large shoes to fill. Jon's keyboard work is beyond legendary. He is a giant amongst many other great keyboardists. His work has always and will always be head and shoulders above just about everyone else, especially on Hammond B3 & C3. There are many great ones...but Jon was indeed truly Legendary. He will be missed. R.I.P., Maestro.

Just heard about his passing away. Having been a fan of Deep Purple and Jon Lords music since 1969, this is a very sad day. I remember being 12 years old in 1973 and sitting on stage in Vejlby Risskovhallen in Aarhus right below Jons Hammond and being scared of him hitting me with the keyboard while playing solos. He leaned forward several times and told me to relax " I`m not gonna hit you" he said. 2.000 false tickets were sold extra and threre was no room for all the people I ended up on stage

I so wish there was some live coverage from the Plymouth Pavillions gig on this tour - as soon as Jon joined Don at the keyboards, Ian told the security guys to let people come right to the edge of the stage, I managed to shake Jon's hands at the end of an amazing gig and on the way out, Don was sitting by the public bar all by himself with a duffle bag by his feet, looking like he was waiting for a lift home... I had a really interesting chat with him - the closest I ever got to Deep Purple!
