I grew up with Mark I but when I listen to Purple again I always return to the Mark II, probably due to the modernity of the band with the legendary Glenn Hughes and his funk-rock approach.

Wish the band in 1975 played a proper set list with songs only from Burn and Stormbringer. Numbers like Sail Away, full Soldier of Fortune with guitar playing along, You can't do it right etc could replace MK2 numbers that just don't sound right here..adding them to Made in Europe and you have pure perfection. In my perception beginning 1975 was peak RB playing and tone.

Coverdale until 1984 was arguably the greatest (hard) rock singer ever. Maybe not the most technical, but in terms of emotions and rawness, he was fantastic. The lineups with Hughes are my favorites. The sound is beefier, bluesier, more complete to my ears. These recordings show a band at the top of their game. Maybe the best I ever Blackmore play.
