Probably my two faves of DP in direct sequence. Certainly not the nicest rendition on either, but … _nice_ …

Wake up cats and kittens, anyone who's ever witnessed this band knows they "don't sound like the record". Seen Led Zeppilin Physical Graffiti and Song Remains the Same and remarks were similar..."Ewww that wasn't what I wanted to hear". An album is like a painting, a concert is ephemeral, even when recorded.

Gillian seems to have lost that thundering voice he had. Most vocal cords don't last forever at that level.

No, it wasn't just the microphone volume....his voice was GONE!!!!!! His high end was gone and his voice was just SUPER tired! He should've cancelled so he could've had another day to rest his voice!

Absolutly there was a failure during the concert in the mixing! The Technicans and the Organizer later has exucused this Problem. Now- there is a better Concert availible- but it is very dificult to get it: Deep Purple toured in the 1994 in New Zeeland, Australia and Japan. The Rehearsals for the Reunion are the Stages in live Concerts of this Countrys. At this time Ritchie play in 2 Bands at the same time. The last Concert of Rainbow was 1984 at Tokyo Budokan. In November Deep Purple get an Contract with Mercury Records. Polygramm has anounced- every Member get 2Mill $ - to get a Reunion. Now- my Problem is- get this Concert from Sydney- in a very high quality in 1984- It Exist!

###01/07/2024@2:20 PM EST---Sounds like Ian Gillan has to put up with Crowley, Aleister E. ,as well as do jimmy page and robert plant. Ian talks just like robert plant does when he is very angry, at his introduction to Black Knight. We already know Ritchie Blackmore has to put up with Crowley since Ritchie and jimmy page work very closely together---###

"Good old upright Christian heterosexual buggery, as opposed to the other kind"...love it. We'll be hearing about the Queen of the Ping Pong in just a few years, though. I always thought it would have been cool if they'd gone into "Summertime" during the audience participation section of "Black Night." Or "We Ain't Got Nothin' Yet".

I dunno. Even though I love Ritchie's guitar playing sometime his, 'experiment' kinda 'wing it' improvising is kinda annoying and doesn't fit sometimes.

Gillan has been the weakest link in the band since ’84 reunion.

And what about Burn, Stormbringer and Come Taste The Band songs in the setlist? Ian Gillan's massive arrogance, proud and ego never let us fans see MK2 playing MK3 and MK4 songs live.

seattwa I saw them in Mountain View in early 1986 (off of this tour) and they sounded like a million bucks. Both Ian and Richie was on, big time.

+Tysons Accosta That would have been great! This was a great band, aside frome Blackmore's childish BS. But he is one of the greats.
@peterhlinka47898 жыл бұрын
+Tysons Accosta Nice! Lucky man. I saw the first Mkll reunion in Los Angeles. Although there was some tension evident, it's what made this band one of the best on the planet. Spot on! Creating and spearheading an entire genre once upon a time. Unfortunately Warner Brothers ground them into the dirt with unmerciful scheduling. Check out Frank Zappa's thoughts on Warner...

+seattwa It wasn't just Ritchie. Gillan and he really had it out for each other. Have you seen the video of the tour when their playing Highway Star and even though Ian doesn't come out for quite awhile after the organ, drums, and Bass have started the song, but Ritchie comes out even later and Ian sarcastically bows down to him like he's royalty but really, 'It's about time dude', and Ritchie just glares with daggers in his eye for a long time and then picks up a big glass of something and throws it at him. They both just love to hate each other and Ian whenever interviewed says horrible thing about Ritchie. Also, later in the song Ian can't hit any high notes and Ritchie just looks disgusted at about it. Ritchie quit during the tour before the Japan leg and hasn't played with them since. Actually I don't know if it's on You Tube. I have a DP DVD and I know it's on that.
