Jon Lord was an excellent musician and a real gentleman. A truly class act. He is still sadly missed.

Not only do I think that's the best piano solo JL ever did, but I'd put it as one of the best in rock. The whole song is haunting and very exciting.

I appreciate Jon taking the time to talk about the making of the song and how much went into the production of it

Jon was a great guy too. Every interview he ever did or was about him he was held in the highest regard. And to put up with Blackmores ego fi all them years, he must have been a saint. I actually think it was a good move for him to go with Coverdales Whitesnake after he left purple. Always exemplary playing!

When I traveled the Pacific while working in motor racing I’d always hum ‘Waltzing Matilda’ landing in Sydney and ‘Woman from Tokyo’ going into Narita. Good times.

To joko blackmore: for a drummer u can have the only choice possible, john, bonzo, Bonham, and bassist Phil Lynott of thin lizzy. There u have it. I can't wait to see that band on the other side. That is gonna b a fucking kickin ass concert. Don't u think?

The laid back piano solo at the end of the song is deliberately kept simple and to me fits nicely with the rest. I understand why Jon felt it wasn't his best piano work but it also isn't the most exciting solo section altogether. I think it does what it should and that's it. It would be interesting what someone like Jerry Lee Lewis would've done with it back in the day. I always considered Jon one of the great Hammond players and that the organ really triggered his inspiration. However, at the piano a lot of his contemporaries were just more accomplished and exciting.

Jon is too too modest to downplay his piano solo. This is a great showcase of his ability. Well thought out! Nice...
