Hey Man, from one aspiring KZbin model-maker o another - great video! As to the waterslide decals: I always add a light spray of glosscoat on the areas that I want to lay down the decals. It helps them slide around easier. This is REALLY important when you're doing large decals - like the Aztec ones used with Star Trek ships. Being able to manipulate them is important. I also really like that color you chose. One of the things I want to cover on my channel is the 'perceived' vs 'actual' colors. Since most of the original Trek ships were physical models, the lighting played a huge part in what the 'perceived' color of the ship was on screen. Funny enough, I had this kit when I was a kid. Actually, It was the last one I did because it was such a frustrating kit. As you probably know, the 90s was a lawless wasteland for quality control in Star Trek models, and it REALLY showed in the Danube Class runabout model kit. It was so mismatched and poorly made - and I didn't have the skills or tools to fix it. But after I got back into them a few years ago I rebought both an original 90s kit release, and a couple of the recent releases from Round 2. Anyway, great video and I look forward to seeing more from ya!

Oh, just as an FYI: The NX-72003 would be the U.S.S. Danube. Typically the first ship in a class is named for the class.

I have this kit, need to build it. I'll be following your build. I actually have a few issues of The Blueprinter magazines. Yeah, I'm old. I'd be glad to send you one or two if you wanted to check them out. #Enterprise.

Awesome! Would love to see some pics! I will say, the nacelle grills, after several builds now I have concluded that the blue is probably best painted on the inside of the piece. It's just very very hard to get the paint to lay in all those grooves!

Just got one of these sealed also, can’t wait to see how it turns out!! #Enterprise

I had a fun time building this - time consuming during the masking and painting stage. There is lots of reference material online, The Christies photos were a lot of help with the painting the colors. The Runabout was a lot more colorful than I'd thought. Are you putting an interior or lighting this? Good luck with the build.

Thank you for the comment! For interior lighting, I decided against it as the model is pretty hollow and I would have wanted to build a bridge and put figures in it.. I just chose to keep it more in-line with how it looked on screen :)

@@thescifimodelguy I have a build log on here of the one I done years ago. I was happy with the results.

Hi, are you going to do an interia or kit bash one
@thescifimodelguy2 ай бұрын
Hi Richard! I have to admit, I needed to look up the word interia... learn something every day! As for the kit, I did decide to weather it with some damage, so I'm not sure what that would be labeled as. It's not so much of a kit bash....maybe "customized" would be more apt..? Anyway I can't wait to show it... there's a sneak peek picture in the community tab if you're interested
