Back in the FLX! Glad to see it. I’m pretty sure I know where you are, I’ve done fairly well there in the summer sometimes too. Nice video! I watch most all of your videos, but this is probably the only fishing you’re doing that I feel qualified to give advice on, ha. My 2 cents somewhat mirrors the comment right above - avoid those hard hook sets (when they hit on the vertical retrieve that is). You can just kinda lock your arm and reel into them, and you should drop a lower percentage of them, right when they hit at least. But they are pretty good at dropping themselves. Nice job not rushing that big one up too!

Thanks! Yeah, I’ve learned that these fish are especially talented at shaking the hook, and thank you for the advice! I watched a few of your videos in preparation for the trip! The good news is I did end up going back there and having a much better day after this, with a much higher success rate with hook sets! Even so, I do hope I can get back up there and improve my vertical game in the future!

@@FishinAccomplished No way! I'm stoked to hear that! I hope there was some useful stuff in there. Looking forward to seeing the next video man! I always enjoy your channel, all the best.

Know that spot very well - jig a lot from a kayak there. Short strikes are the normal - lakers hit on the way up and so line goes slack. Instead of setting hook at first strike, count to 3 then reel like hell to get a hook set.

Interesting! Thanks for the advice, I will certainly keep this in mind for future trips… those fish certainly have a skill for missing the hook!

Awesome video . I have such a tough time breaking away from the salt . I’d love to get up there sometime .

Yeah, I agree! I think this type of fishing shared a lot of similarities with various salt water styles!

Love the binsky forgot about that blade bait. Gotta find it in my tackle bag and throw it around.

Yes, a truly great lure for this type of fishing!

set the hook harder and sharpen your hooks lakers have bony mouths add in 100+ feet of line between you and the fish.
