That borehole company and boss took you for a ride. It was not your duty to buy : - any pump nor any tank before water sprouts. Secondly, based on their analysis three separate spots should have been planned for drilling. Worse off he failed to drill to 150m - if they were doing honest business they would have continued to drill. I love Ghana and as a Jamaican that boss would have felt it!

So Korewaaa borehole lining is dependent on the type of rock formation u encounter during drilling. When the rock formation is very hard and stable u might line only the top base with few PVC pipes but when the rock formation is very loose and unstable u need to line the borehole fully with PVC pipes to prevent the hole from collapsing or caving in. In cases, where u drill and u don't get water u can do hydrofracturing to get water for your needed possible.

Had same experience The problem is there are a lot of middlemen in the water drilling business . the drilling companies qoute them a price for the drilling and they would have to decide wether they want full lining (full construction) or partial linning (partial constuction) and most of them cross their fingers and opt for the partial linning this makes estimates more competitive. When mine failed l couldnt challenge the company to do it again because they had done what the middleman had asked them to do Its better to contact the company directly ask them the cost of drilling and the amount of linning they provide with that quote. tell them you want full construction and calculate with them how many extra linning tubes you require for the job Price should be less because of no middleman fees the company should do the survey so if there is no water , they should come to an agreement of removing the linning and try again if water not found You could also ask the new company to remove the old linning to re-use to save cost Maybe even your pump if possible luckily my pump didn't get stuck

Agreed! In the States, consumers are able to voice their legit thoughts about a business that misrepresents competency, professionalism, integrity etc.etc.etc . It’s a federal agency called the Better Business Bureau. Do you have similar in Ghana? Anyways I hope you recoup the monies lost in that failed misrepresentation of the borehole drilling company fiasco. I was in a similar situation with a home remodeling company for 3 years. Had to hire an attorney for representation. This company would threaten to take my home if I didn’t pay for a project that never happened. 😩 anyways 10k + lawyer fees later it’s finally over. I learned a valuable lesson, never sign contracts and thoroughly investigate(pray,fast) seriously the business I hire. Anyways I am praying for you Korewaa. God speed!

Korewaa, I don't usually comment on KZbin channels but felt compelled to do so when I watched your video. What happened to you was very unfortunate because it appears to be something that happens to most people. It happened to me too. Firstly, that drilling company took advantage of you. Another similar situation happened to a friend of mine who hired a company that drilled down 50 meters and then the same company reported not to have found any water. She then got another company to come out and attempt a second time to which they managed to find water at 50 meters down and just a few meters away from where the first company had originally drilled. honest
@sepobshow3611
@sepobshow3611 9 ай бұрын
A similar incident happened to me but the second time round I just wrote down the questions to ask the drilling company so as not to lose any more money. That drilling company was not very honest with you. If they could not find water even at 130 meters they should have tried another location on the land. Usually at 50 -75 meters water should be found. If not any drilling company that cares for the customer's pocket should suggest another part of the land.

In my situation, I was out of the country when they drilled my borehole...they found water, but the problem is they drilled it 6 meters (20 feet) away from the fence wall, which means it will be very close to the back wall of the house. I have learned from that experience...you just have to be on site...

The following points are meant to equip you with some basic understanding of groundwater: 1) Groundwater, like surface water needs a catchment area to capture and recharge . If you drill on top of a hill, there is no such catchment. Generally you have a better chance of striking groundwater in lower lying areas (valleys) than elevated areas 2) The techniques used for surveying should have capacity for deep ground penetration. One such technique is multifrequency electromagnetic (EM) Traverses, capable of greater than 150m. 3) If water is struck in a borehole, it will be blown out of the borehole and flows steadily if the yield is significant. The contractor lied by saying lots of water will collect in the borehole overnight. He never struck any significant amount of water in the first place. 4) Casing is used to support unstable loose rock. In many instances casing is installed in the unstable sections of the borehole, and left open in solid competent rock. I am curious what the geology is at the site?

@epidoteengineeringconsult5784 exactly. Water don't gush out of a 100 ft hole naturally. if that's the case, the flow will continue after the compressor is turned off and the bits are out. This real work, not looking on KZbin for answers.

Most of the borehole “companies” in Ghana are actually middlemen with not much expertise. They rent the drilling truck and try their luck. I was mortified when the guy from the company we hired didn’t even finish counting the money without getting confused. They ended up messing up our borehole too and we still don’t have water. Do your research and see previous work as well as a permanent office front of the company you deal with before you contract them or pay. Otherwise you might fall victim to a fly by night bozo who would just mess you up like this. Also always insist on paying just the drilling part upfront and after you get water you pay for the pump and installation. I give it to you, you were too kind in this transaction.

Again, in the drilling of boreholes PVC casing is always used and included in the initial costing at no extra charge, but in the unlikely even that the soil collapses, the drilling company should inform as they usually offer an alternative which a metal casing instead. This is slightly more expensive as they charge per meter of the metal casing used as you go down into the ground. You will definitely find the right drilling company who will do the right job for you without giving you unnecessary excuses. All the best!

Deeper wells doesn't necessarily guarantee more water. You just need to hit the aquifer layer...where the water is. On some lands, no matter how deep, you won't get water because there's no aquifer layer. Deeper aquifers guarantee more water than top ones but that is if you have aquifer layer in the first place.

How do you drill a borehole without borehole screens/ sleeve? Before you drill are there neighbours with water, they can advise you on the water depths. From the point the borehole collapsed, it seems the area need mud drilling. What you used was rock dry drilling. Mud drilling is recommended where there are no rocks. Another option of having water all year round is to build a water pan (small lake) that can collect and hold large amounts of rain water. Enough for all use.

Some professionals in the field can give you empty promises and excuses when they are not following engineering recommendation. It is disappointing this contractor didn't give the appropriate standard of care in discharging his duty. It was up to him to tell you about the casing, how much it cost and what are the pros and cons so you can make an informed decision. Thanks for sharing your story. It is certainly an "eye opener ". So these guys just wanted to rip you off. Here is what should have happened. 1. They are supposed to drill a thicker hole at the beginning until they find the bed rock. Then drop in Well PVC pipes to the Bedrock. 2. They drill past the bedrock with a few diameter thin drill head past the bed rock until they find water. A wall will 90% cave in on itself above the bedrock. Below that it's rocky and hard material it rarely caves in on itself. 3. If water was found it gushes out. They estimate how many litres a minute are coming out. You keep drilling untill at least above 15l a minute is coming out. NB: you only drop a pump in the well after you fins water not this trial and error trash they did. How do you drop in a pump while not even a drop of water came out while drilling. 4. A red flag I saw is that they told you to wait 3 days to wait for water to collect. That's a nono, what you are looking for is underground water not surface water. 5. A quote that they should have given you should have included piping in the first place. They should have quoted fixed for drilling 150m and they per pipe used up to the bedrock. Bedrock can be found fast or late depending on the area you at. Sorry for lengthy comment. But whatever they did you was not right. Infact they should have refunded the pump because it's their non professionalism that ended things that way. They pump had no business going in without first measuring the level of water.

The simplest way of finding water, l will suggest does not require all those equipments the drilling company brought. You simply need two coat hangers bent at 90 degrees and one end stuck in a hollow tube such as an empty bic pen or a hollow bamboo stick, one on the right hand and the other in the left hand. You walk holding each about a foot apart in front of you. As you walk around the property, gravitational magnetic pull will draw the two metal pieces together across. An indication of aquifer where you are. This method is still being used worldwide including Australia and Germany. I’m sure you can find it somewhere on KZbin to save you and your family all that headache. Good luck!

I'm in the same area that you bought land so I was wondering if I can get water on top of the Hill you win showing that as possible so I'm happy for that period the second thing is that I learned about the collapsing of the borough hole from you period the third thing is that the death of how deep you have to Dick was very helpful and making sure that these guys bring what is needed And checking before they start that they have it period I really appreciate this video thank you very much and I hope that we get to meet 1 day when I'm on my land and Ghana . Great videos! Professionally done, capturing attention throughout the narration. From my experience in drilling boreholes at two very diverse locations, a 100m depth should produce some water. Any additional depth would be to improve water quality and sustainable yield, especially in the dry season. Agree to pay 50% of total cost upfront and the rest if contract is successfully executed with water gushing out. You can determine the depth drilled using the length of the total length of the tube used in lowering down the pump into the hole or discreetly talk to the technical hands on the project (not the boss in the first instance). Lastly, for the scale of your project, a 2.0hp pump will be ideal, anything lower may not work well.

Even when pockets of water (phreatic zones) can be found , underground water move based on natural pressure(rocks) and gravity( mountain ,hill,moon ) to find water up hill you need to ask yourself what will cause water to move up against gravity or to be trapped by rocks in your area . Your terrain raises a serious challenge for any professional water drilling company not just your current contractor.

They were supposed to aligned the pipes from the base to the top and it could be that the position the drilled didn’t have water or the depth of the water is further down below the height they drilled and i can confidently say that the boss is not truthfully i personally spotted red flags when he knew they are supposed to drill 150m and rather showed up with 130m drill pipes to the site and water was supposed to gushed out before even fixing the pump the y should pay for the damaged pump in my opinion

"The Boss Man" is being ridiculous! The PVC pipes are the least expensive part of the borehole drilling process and is usually quoted for the entire project. My belief is that he quoted for the entire project and decided to cut corners which backfired. But he doesn't care because its not his money. Secondly, pumping water into a collapsed borehole in order to retrieve a submersible pump is one of the most insanely idiotic thing to do because its like trying to drive out of a muddy pond. Its just a series of unfortunate events due to incompetence. He has been getting away with cutting corners with those PVC pipes in the past but he failed at first contact this time. Unfortunately, I know my people, they will hardly learn from mistakes that doesn't cost them personally. Best of luck Korewaa & Family!

I recently did a borehole and although I requested for the machine drilling, my uncle who is taking care of the project, opted to use the local guys to dig it manually. I agreed to it, and they've done a good job. They put a long pvc pipe and a submersible pump in there and covered it, very neatly done. Total cost came to about Gh18K including the submersible pump, the pvc pipe, and a generator. A equally good option you could consider.

I'm going through something similar in Botswana with a carpenter on a retail location - the conversation I'm having with this guy would have gotten me free service here in the States. They boss would have refunded my expenses or done the repair work for free. I think it's a lack of customer care experience from service providers that would leave business in financial and reputational ruin in the west. Capitalism has some valuable lessons.

Its funny because when i saw the acquired samples from the borehole the drilled i knew something was not okey. The drilling method they used is compressed air to push out any residue from the bottom of the hole. So for you to notice if they hit water you would have seen water flying out from the borehole. And normally for a proffesional driller he would have been honest and told you to go abit deeper. But again there are so many redflags on the company boss he knew you dont have water on that borehole, hence acted like he had not developed the borehole from ground up fearing cost, he also knew if you put a pump down that rabit hole you were never going to get anywater to last you even a minute 🤕its just painful to watch these scammers do you like that. Please next time make sure you make them insure the borehole and have a lawyer with a strict contract 40% - 60% payment policy and make sure you see water flying out of that hole before you even pay them. Again alot of water pouring because after hitting a water fracture they will have to blow it open by compressed air to clean any clogged fracture to allow maximum flow of water into the borehole. Take care and be safe much love from 🇹🇿
