Deepak Chopra's short address at the SAND17 conference is notable for its clarity, warmth and realism - and for its opening video and closing audio. The sincerity of his plea to the audience also made an impact: Please wake up, because the dream has turned into a nightmare. The presentation ends with a short meditation to become aware of that which is listening, and a recording of a song that George Harrison gave to Deepak on the way to London Airport in 1988.

I am a hospice nurse and have been at the deathbed of many at their moment of death. As the spirit ( consciousness) is released from the physical body ,there is an other worldly light and energy that emanates and radiates out from the deceased , filling the whole room with what I can only described as peace, serenity and an all encompassing love. It touches all my senses and my heart that I instinctually bow my head in reverence. It happens so often that I know it is real and it is sacred. The non-believer in their fear will denied and dismiss this experience as delusion . For me, it is grace and a blessed final departure gift my patients gave me which I am forever grateful for.

The non believer lives in thier mind. They identify themselves as the thinking Negative mind so that nothing truly loving is considered important. So they do not feel the truth which is that none of us are separate. You along with the dying are the one consciousness. Pure creator source. Divine eternal love.

As an non-believer I do not give names to mystical experiences. We are all connected through physics and chemistry. We are recycled matter, therefor what one does affects all, because we are all the same and come from the same base material. Judgement associated with labels is unbecoming of your self subscribed oneness.

George Harrison's body of solo work is astounding - meaningful, spiritual and always uplifting. In 50, 75, 100 years from now, it will be Harrison's work that future generations will be familiar with. His final album Brainwashed is breathtaking, his finest work. If you haven't listened to it from begining to end I encourage you to do so. You will not be disappointed.

In 1969 the sun rose in my mind as I was waking up. It said "it's time to meditate." I didn't know what meditation was, but within a week I found a teacher at the Temple of Silence in raja yoga, the yoga of meditation. This inner sun spoke to me without sound. It was just like the sun rising, a great light, and some part of me knew what it was and understood.

Barbara Brennan With respect Barbara you are confusing hallucinations with illusions. An hallucination is an event usually made up by an individual brain - it can usually only be perceived by that individual. An illusion exists but is not what it appears to be. When the brain receives a sensory input all it is receiving is a series of electrical signals along the nerves. The brains job is to turn those signals into something which can be presented to and understood by consciousness. To achieve this the original signals undergo a huge amount of processing and converting. They have to be decoded, analyses, recognized, classified, associated to memories and feelings - this whole process, which are just on the verge of understanding is extremely complex and mostly completely hidden from consciousness. If, at some point the incoming signal doesn’t make any sense and cannot be correlated with previous experiences it will either be rejected or altered in such a way as to fit the brain conceptual model of reality. This is most definitely an act of filtering. A good, simple example is that of colour. Colour does not exist in the world ‘out there’. Electromagnetic radiation (light) has no colour. However, somewhere inside our brain the appropriate sensory signals from the eye are given a form which we may call ‘green’. But ‘green’ only exists in our heads, nowhere else. So, green’ is an illusion. Our brains have filtered and labeled some inputs as being ‘green’ but outside of our own perception we have no idea what ‘green’ really ‘looks like’.

George became a strong believer in Krishna and Krishna consciousness. He helped the Hare Krishna movement in many ways. Many of his songs even on his early albums, like ALL THINGS MUST PASS and LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD, are based on the philosophy of Bhagavad Gita. George produced and recorded the first record by a group of Hare Krishnas which immediately went to no.1 and was selling out in England and Europe ('69 &'70) for many months. During his last days he invited his 3 best friends from the Krishna movement, Mukunda, Shyamasundara, and Gurudas to spend time with him singing Hare Krishna and to be there during his final moments. Remember how he wrote a song on one of his early albums called THE ART OF DYING and many years later he was doing just that. So his life and his dying were all very spiritually focused. That is really quite a feat when you are so famous and so wealthy. Deepak is quoting Lord Krishna but he explains it wrongly because Krishna never says that YOU are the UNIVERSE. Read the Bhagavad Gita for yourself and understand this great philosophy of life and the universe.

@@Beautifulcoil It's a common christian apologist type of argument that uses false logic. Like saying The Bible is real because it was written on real paper. And conflating holocaust denier's with all non- christian's is absurd especially when most holocaust denier's ARE christian, but sadly this tactic is effective on some people and that's why they use it.

The Bible is not eyewitness accounts. The gospels were written long after Jesus died. There are no historical records of Jesus. None. At all.

This is the first time I've heard Deepak speak. I understand it. And of course it's true. And now I have to find a way to share Oh The Rising Sun with friends of mine. What a wonderful age to be human in. I know I've lived before in ages that were filled with superstition and misery. There was no one there at those times to enlighten our souls.

Man did not create God. God is our Father and gave us life in the spirit world. He then sent us to earth to have a mortal experience and to use our time to get closer to Him. Truth exists. Really exists. It comes from God.

Interestingly "The Kingdom is in you"... Surrounded by mystery, it makes sense to become a mystic. And the human species have achieved quite a bit to their credit... regardless of of their living illusions that keep changing and have created monuments in mind, matter, spirit and mind. Yes, we are the Universe. Or, I think rather that mystery of the Universe is expressed through us.

I believe the one experience of consciousness we have yet to realize and rationalize in our perception of reality, and incidentally the one Deepak Chopra has never addressed, is the presence of extraterrestrial life and the boundless nature of consciousness such a discovery will unveil. As long as our species continues to believe we are the beginning and end of sentient life in the universe.... with have no reason to wake up.
