I have the Gammax 400 V2 and i'm planning to upgrade to a LGA 1700 CPU in near future. For others like me, just know that Deepcool released "Intel LGA 1700 Mounting Bracket Kit" for the whole GAMMAXX 400 series (and a different kit for some other models of theirs) and it's dirt cheap, about 2$ or so

I have the Gammaxx 400v2 cooler and the backplates are different... Plus the standoffs are plastic... It came with two LGA backplates... Not sure which chipset each goes to... The spring screws for the LGA mounting system are attached to the supplied brackets... There are no spring screws for the AMD brackets though... Instead they include 4 normal philips head screws to mount to an AMD mobo...

Hi. I bought this cooler after watching your video price was $19.95 USD which is very cheap. They have changed the AM4 mounting so I guess V2.1 now, it no longer uses a plastic bracket and uses 4 plastic screw caps instead of the metal thumbscrews you had to secure the cooler to the original AM4 MB backplate. Overall installation when the MB was already in my fair-sized larger mini ITX case was not easy, getting those spring clips with no room for hands on one side was equally difficult but the cooler performs very well once installed. Regards.

I wonder why more companies don't use a similar system to the one CoolerMaster has: plastic brackets with normal fan screws that just clip in to the cooler, no issue whatsoever with replacing the fan. Even the "ancient" Hyper T4 had these, and it came with two sets so you could add a second fan! Proprietary thing perhaps? Or do other brands just love to piss everyone off with the spring clips? I really can't like those things (although some are better than others, depending on the brand).

Ur tutorial motivated me to buy a cooler i was scared to mess it up just did this one today they made the installation even easier but men i had trouble with the spring just like you said its difficult. my fingers are cut and started bleeding a little bit from the pressure of the heatsink against my fingers while trying to get it off but my cpu runs about 20 degrees lower compared to the stock amd cooler so im happy

The springs are indeed brutal and because i was afraid to use more force in fear of damaging it, after a long struggle i turned to a different approach: Instead of trying to detach the main part of the spring from the heatsink itself, i detached one of the hooks that holds the fan. That part of the spring is way more flexible and even if it has one or two 90deg angles to deal with, it is not as tightly fit and it was easy to detach (and reattach after)

If you can get it cheap for around £15 then it's a decent cooler but at £30 it seems too much, the Veetro V5 is an ARGB fan cooler and usually costs £30-£32 so I think that would be the better cooler of the two personally.

I have 4 of the original V1 versions. I actually prefer the Intel mounting on the V! version way better than the V2 version. What can I say...I like the Intel push pin coolers if they aren't too heavy. The V2 version has way too many parts to fiddle with. AMD and Intel. I'll take the V1 version any day. It's on my daily driver. Keeps it nice and cool. No need to upgrade. Take care all. Cheers

Nice one Mike! I've installed 3 of these before. Had the ARGB version, the all blue and the all white. My general thoughts are VERY good for the money if you get it on deal. Cools well, easy(ish) to assemble and lots of options. Only issues for me were the spring clips as you mentioned, the screws rotating in the rear bracket when you crank it down and bending the fins with the clips. However for the performance on the chips I paired it with I couldn't knock it. The ARGB version has a rather bright fan included. One thing I have noticed is the internal thermal paste is absolutely shite! But that's no surprise....
