I had the distinct pleasure of taking a 3-day class from Allison at Grass Valley (just prior to the California Bluegrass Association's Father's Day Festival) in 2019. Tatiana was the teacher for the fiddle class. On the last day, the 2 classes met together, and played the one tune that both classes had worked on separately. Then the students played one-on-one with the teacher of the other instrument. I was REALLY intimidated playing banjo to Tatiana's fiddle! But a wonderful learning experience. And two very wonderful people as teachers!

Thanks for the list. Are their different "Eighth of January" tunes? That doesn't sound like the one I've heard. I know their can be variants of tunes, like with "Angeline the baker" etc. I'm not a fiddler, though, so I'm not very acquainted with this stuff.

Quick Statistic that i had to read 5 times just to be sure- " but New York did a study in its penitentiary system and found that 67 PERCENT of incarcerated women were there for killing someone who was abusing them." this is staggering to me, and speaks to Alices song about how Joan Littles story is still relevant today. I honestly havent done any follow up research on that statement but Here is the interview that i Highly recommend reading. special invite to the men reading this "The Most Dangerous Place- Rachel Louise Snyder on the persistent problem of Domestic Violence.
