I like the side quest recap approach, but I would save the Green SIde quests for on camera, and the proto-relics sometimes are story related, so I would save those too.

Soul Drain is actually a great ability, it not only absorbs MP from the enemy, but does a decent damage.

@@tonymaccaroni1683 The amount of MP you absorb always seemed just miniscule to me, but considering you can get a folio ability and a weapon upgrade that increases the amount absorbed by (I think) 45% together, and you have so little MP compared to Remake, that I think it might be a life saver in protracted fights.

They've improved the MP recovery since Remake, but it's also her strongest attack vs staggered enemies (Ray of J having been nerfed a fair bit from Remake)

Yeah Soul Drain wasn't really with using in Remake unless the enemy was staggered (and then it was amazing!) but I found myself using it as a damaging skill regularly in Rebirth.

i agree tbh it made me stop watching the video at the start when she listed all the things off camera. I get that everyone is different but I was expecting her to be thorough/show everything like remake It would be better to just dedicate a single episode to completing a regions intel, no? so many cool moments and character moments even in some of the basic stuff

Every time you get to a new region you’ll lose fast travel between regions for a while, but do get it back. You won’t be shut out of going back to previous regions for more than a couple hours of gameplay or so (often far less depending on the order you do things).

I know this tip will probably be useless to you now, but just for a little insight into why you keep finding random lightning materia on the floor: it's not coz the game thinks you need another lightning materia; it's a clue about what an upcoming enemy is weak to.

Love your playthrough. The only downside of your skill is that all combat seems easy to you. I've seen a lot of other people struggle due to not understanding/using synergy skills and abilities and trying to rely solely on dodging. I recommend "Dynamic difficulty" if you aren't already on that, to at least stop you from outleveling the enemies. The mithril mines have really cool music. I like how it transitions seamlessly into the "battle version" when you start a fight, without skipping a beat.

I switched to Dynamic difficulty in the last video!! But yeah main scenario stuff is a bit easy (I'm filming Chapter 7 at the moment), but that was also the case with Remake so I'm not too bothered by it. Thank you so much though I appreciate that! And yes the music is INCREDIBLE!

I have an information that will make you dislike Kyrie even more lol. It's non-spoiler from a novel about Tifa's and Aerith's past. Kyrie was Aerith's childhood friend, but since Aerith is an Ancient and she sensed that Kyrie's mother passed away, she urged her friend to get back home (Aerith didn't tell what happend, just warned her to get back). But Kyrie then was really weirded out by Aerith's ability and basically started ignoring her or avoiding. And Aerith lost all of her friends because of it. So she didn't have a real best friend or real friends since very early childhood.

They really upped their game with the odd jobs!! They're so fun! The only thing I've not liked so far was the Cactuar pictures thing, but it wasn't even an odd job 🤣 All the rest has been sooo fun (I'm playing Chapter 7 at the moment)

I've found a lot of the time it is best to go to the main city first to open up additional side stuff before you explore the region proper. You can also travel back to any area *most* of the time so do not worry about missing Chadley intel or side quests too much.

Yeah, it's a good idea to find the sidequests first before exploring. It helps to lessen the amount of backtracking. I got so excited first time I started the game and just started exploring. Then I got the sidequests and I had to go back to places I've already been to 😂

When using Aerith, you can also use "Bodyguard" as Synergy skill and Cloud will either block Aerith from attack if someone is running to you or firing at you. Also you can use Bodyguard when someone sends Aerith flying in the air, Cloud will catch her midfly, and you won't take extra damage and Aerith won't waste seconds getting up.

Hey Whimsy! Remember that you can always reset your folio and reallocate points. It makes it a little easier deciding what to get since if you don't like how you spent your points, you can redo it anytime you want.

Another fun upload! And you almost 100% the grasslands, awesome job Whimsy! Loved all the little callbacks to Remake between the characters, like Aerith’s Madame M joke and Cloud, Barrett and Aerith all charging each other 2 grand to help each other out. Edit: I’m sure you’ve done some sidequests in Junon by now, so you can actually go back to 100% the Grasslands if you want to go back.

Amazing how much you engage with the combat. It's such a good combat. The recap was amazing. I love the sidequest focusing on one character at a time and the protorelic quests are so much fun. This is not a spoiler, but the character you saw at the end of the protorelic is an important one in FFV (and he has one of the best theme song in FF) which is a nice callback.

I think it's totally fine when you do Chadley's exploration off camera, it's not suuper interesting to watch (especially when you play the game yourself), except the world intel missions that are a bit more special. BTW Love the moments where you start humming along to the songs. It kinda hit me how those OG melodies still catch on so easily, even when you haven't heard the original songs for hours on repeat before. I really love what they did with most of the new versions. 🥰

I did all those tutorials, put in over a dozen hours into the demo, platinum'd Remake a few days before Rebirth came out, did EVERYTHING in the grasslands before Midgardsormr so I was a much higher level than you, and yet it still took me 4 or 5 tries to beat him, whereas it only took you 2.

You're once again spot on with the occurances and questions. Sephiroth could have killed Cloud on several occasions, but he didn't. For some reason he needs Cloud alive. Also don't worry about not 100%-ing a region. You can come back later and do it. You can advance with the main story whenever you feel it's right. Amazing playthrough as always. It's a joy to watch you dominating in combat and putting the pieces of story together. I think you'll be having a blast in the chapters to come. Peak storytelling in my opinion. Can't wait to witness it. 🙃

In the 90s version, fighting the snake was pointless - it would just attack you repeatedly if you tried to cross the swamp on foot, but could be outrun by a chocobo, and the first time you successfully crossed the swamp you'd find it impaled afterwards.

I bought a PS5 for this game, I was mad excited. But I couldn't even make it through the whole thing. It's a painfully bad experience. The writing is for 9 year olds, and if I never see another one of these shoe-horned in, boring as hell minigames, it'll be too soon. This game SUCKS.
