Back in the 80s I lived in Florida and I loved it a little place I can't tell you about but when I lived there near the beach when you got tired of saltwater you could go across the road into the forest and jump into ice cold freshwater spring so cold you could not swim very deep you could keep your beer ice down in the water it was lovely

The Millhopper in Gainesville also a little known destination. Unique because of the terrain that drops about 200 feet into an ancient sinkhole that creates an environment like being in more hilly state. Maybe bump the Everglades tour for the Millhopper as the Everglades is no secret.

Disney's technically a secret cult operation and a lot of children go missing there every year some of them are never found if that isn't enough to send you running that I don't know what the hell is I could probably tell you that it's the Devil Himself that runs this state and you probably would still jump on a fucking bus down here like an idiot

@k.otticgoode58815 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I'm a transplant so probably biased, but all the don't come here we hate you stuff is pretty silly. Tourism = $ and jobs. I live in the Orlando area and yeah it can be irritating getting around with all the extra vehicles being driven by confused tourists but what am I supposed to do? Tell people to stop taking vacations? Go spend their money elsewhere? Florida is beautiful. I love it here. Makes sense other people will too.
@johnk36065 жыл бұрын
All I would ask is if you come and decide to stay bring a great attitude and keep it. Don’t complain about the heat or how it was better back north or my favorite how it’s getting too crowded. Florida is constantly changing as is natural due to its popularity so its not going to stop changing just because you moved here.
@linmims30495 жыл бұрын
As a 60 year old life long resident of Florida (NW), I agree, in part with what you're saying. Tourism does bring revenue to the state, however, I hate that the wonderful and mostly deserted beaches that we combed as children have disappeared, such as Grayton and Blue Mountain. I loved having the beach all to ourselves, now they've become overcrowded. We locals rarely even go to the beach because of the rude tourist who think nothing of leaving our once pristine beaches a trashy mess. I don't what to sound mean, or selfish, yes come, stay a while but please leave our beautiful Emerald Coast as beautiful as you found. And stop building on the beach, there is plenty of land available off the sand. Leave our beaches as they were meant to be.

I grew up in soflo, but have recently lived in, VA, NH, TN(not my favorite), and OR, by FAR my favorite. I'm sorry but the things here are sooooo touristy...for real getaway and nature feel, you cant beat the PNW...the mountains are amazing, tons of places to really hike, beautiful oceanside. All the citizens in Florida get together and vote on whether we want other people to know about certain places. If we don't want others to know we force the mapmakers to remove them from maps and GPS units so they can't be found. We managed to keep the Keys a total secret until just a few years ago and now look. Disney has actually been here since the 1930's but we hid it behind Palm Trees. We still don't let outsiders know about the Florida mountains and the great skiing we have.

Haters gonna hate. Let'em. Maybe we can tone down on all the damn Yankees moving down here. Head over to Key Club Beach on the intercoastal in Lighthouse Point. It's just past the big pink Church on Federal Highway across from Pompano Citi Centre. Take the road going east and stay straight on until you see the stands of Australian pine on your right. The road will Branch off to the left a few times but just keep going straight until you get to the fenced area. There is a nice hidden park down in there with good bathrooms a playground and a little wooded area to explore. Go to the fence gate on the left after you park and enjoy the intercoastal with a beautiful beach and lots of pelicans.
