This was my first Texas star party in Fort Davis and it was truly amazing. My first day there i went inside my cabin before it got dark and came out after night fall. I was literally amazed at the sky. My mouth dropped open 😮 and the sight took my breath away. I had never seen the sky so lite up. A moment i will always remember. Beautiful beyond words. ✨

At 37:43 that's crazy how the tripods stayed standing after the dust devil plowed through them. And that night vision video was incredible, especially of Omega Centauri. Wow!

An excellent video and editing!...thanks! Is attendance at TSP dwindling as it did at RTMC? Also, I keep seeing in the vids what appears like Sprites (13:00) is that what they are?

Thanks for watching! Yeah attendance at all star parties has dwindled the last few years. And yep! Those are sprites. 😃

Awesome video, thanks! It's been several years since I attended; I liked to set up on the lower field. There seemed to hardly be anyone there last year. Is there still AC power in that area? There used to be power cables around the trees, but they must be large enough now that no one sets up there.
@DeepSkyDude Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yeah the lower field definitely still has power ran to it. The trees are only an issue if you set up too close. Most people use the western part of the lower field and it’s all good.

Glad you’re coming to join in on the fun! Weather is always a crap shoot out in west Texas. Sometimes you get a home run and sometimes it’s a strike out. Wind is always a factor at any star party so as the saying goes, “stake it or take it”. When I doubt just throw the fragile stuff in the tent or a vehicle. You’ll want sun protection for you and your gear and shorts for daytime and cold gear at night. Temps can be all the way from 90 in the day to 30’s at night. But wow, the skies are worth it!
@anata5127 Жыл бұрын
@@DeepSkyDude Now, weather is superb up there. No wind, very good temperature and terrific seeing. Let’s hope we will have the same in one month. I don’t have enclosure and many other gizmos. In ESP, I shielded my system with car😄

@@Black_hole306 nah that’s not true at all. Almost everyone who images at TSP and other star parties are quite respectful and aware of how much light they put off. For those who don’t/aren’t, we just politely go ask them to shield their lights. At TSP we are pretty strict about this but we don’t have that many issues with excessive light leaks.

@@DeepSkyDude I remember when my wife was scolded for her CPAP display popping on momentarily in the tent when she went to bed. They are very conscious of light on the field.
