@@dougs7367not always the case. My daughter is a working single mother. Her income is just beyond the limit to qualify. As prices go up and up, she’s becoming more and more squeezed. She said last week, speaking of a friend in the same situation, “she’s down to just eating rice. That’s it. She feeds (her son) a little better, but she just eats rice. I’m not as bad off as her, as I know if it got that bad for me, I can come *shopping* at your house”. She’s right. I’d never let her our my granddaughter go hungry if I can help it. It may not be your intention, but your statement seems to paint with a rather wide brush. I do agree SOME families with kids get a LOT of food stamps. Other families with kids are struggling. It’s only getting worse and worse for them.

So expensive in the food store. On my fixed income, I cook from scratch and buy basic ingredients. Great value items are a money savings. We are experiencing about the same price ranges in Eastern Pennsylvania. Mr Tom, your cornbread is delicious with red beans. Thank you for the tour. Hug the kitty Krew. Nope, that’s rare, people at Walmart are nothing like they post on them videos! Every once in awhile it’s mostly these generation of young parents do not discipline their children, it’s been awhile but, these parents were in the women’s clothing section and, neither mom or dad would say anything to their autistic child to calm him down, almost as if they were afraid of him and he just kept screaming non- stop and, the the whole store heard for almost a solid 2 hrs!

Sadly, my husband is now on a renal diet. It is so hard for a southern boy….no sausage, no beans, no potatoes, no potatoes, no potatoes, lol. No tomatoes, no bacon, no cokes, no tea. the list goes on. Basically it’s a vegan 🤮 diet without a big helping of beans for protein . He can have a small amount. Hope it’s sort of temporary, at least the bad restrictions. We were watching it but now it’s serious. I’ve never read so many food labels in my life and I’ve always been conscious of nutrition labels. Getting older sucks.

Same. I was accused of shoplifting when I was overcharged by the cashier. Kept at the store when I was trying to get home quickly to my husband with dementia. It took the courtesy counter clerk 30 minutes to figure out I was overcharged, and then I get no apology. Way to run a business Walmart, thieves walk out with carts full of stolen items and they are allowed to without being confronted. The paying customers get detained and accused of shoplifting. Oh yeah, I was accused to stealing cucumbers, a vegetable that is 90% water, like I'm going to go to jail for grand theft cucumber. 🥒👀

All cage free means is they’re running around the indoor chicken house. I splurge and buy the pasture raised, organic. Outdoor raised, they really do taste better with deeper color yolks and they say better nutrition. That’s my big splurge.

@gailmiler2797
@gailmiler2797 6 ай бұрын
I was reading something about that today. Cage-free doesn't mean what a lot of people think it means. It means that laying hens can step out of their cages onto a concrete floor only when they're laying. They can't hunt and peck for bugs, have natural light and sunshine or run around in the grass. Pasture-raised is the best for them and us- unfortunately it's also the most expensive😢

I did our shopping yesterday here in central Texas at our local Brookshire Brothers grocer, our eggs had jumped tremendously an 18ct of Large eyes was 6.99 and the 36 count was 13.69. They just about tripled in a week. Our milk runs right at $5 gallon store brand. The price of potatoes was creeping back up, up around $9 for an 8 lb bag (which used to be a 10 lb). Cereal here is about the same as y'all are paying and its just crazy. Most of the other prices you show are about the same as here. We are spending more now on groceries then we did when all of our kids were home, some how I thought it would be cheaper lol. Enjoyed the shopping trip. Have a great week LaDawn

We stopped comparing our old brand to new ones, they are not supposed to taste exactly the same. What we "liked" was what we were familiar with. I refilled the Wonder Bread bags with the store band., and the Folger can with Aldi's. We each get to pick ONE old branded item to keep. The G-kids who refused to eat anything but Wonder have been gobbling down the store bread now for 7 months. Hubby now likes the new coffee but we keep it in a Folgers jug. Ask Super Foods and Walmart if they have bacon ends....we loved them now and the saved grease is heavenly!

Pizza Dough nor any other dough will not raise in the fridge, you can chill dough a day ahead or overnight but, you will have to let it sit out on the counter or on top of the stove for 2, till your dough doubles in size just like normal and, then, once you shape your dough in a cookie sheet or pizza pan it needs to rise for another hour and a half!

Perfect timing to give-up meat as Lent starts on Wednesday, or at least eat it every other day. Homemade seasoned popcorn, DT pretzels or cornbread sticks with melted cheese make great snacks. Easy to find a cheap air popper at thrift stores. Hope leaving more than 1 comment help your YT stats.

You know you can pop popcorn the old fashioned way in a pan or just get a pan of jiffy pop and, pop it on top of the stove, no popcorn popper needed, you can also just buy microwave popcorn already to go or just pour some popcorn in paper bag and, pop it in the microwave! Then, just melt some butter Down and pour over the top and mix it up good!

I shop my local Walmart frequently and try to buy their brand of most items as they are a little more reasonably priced. It is not my favorite store to shop but I shop wherever I can save the most money. Thanks for taking us along. I learned something new today as I did not know that they sold bacon grease in the oil section. I save my own but interesting to know.

Watching your grocery price comparison shopping. As of now I'm stuck with Walmart delivery. I shop online. Had 2 nasty falls in 3 month period. So not up to going to store right now. Hopefully I can get out more soon. But like you I pay particular attention to Great Value brand foods. And I'll splurge on a want like 2 strip steaks about once per month.

At our Aldi store we bought milk for $2.72 a gallon, a bag of wavy potato chips were $1.59, pound of salted butter was $3.42. Some other things that you looked at and showed were lower here also by anywhere from .27 - $1.21. I no longer will shop at Walmart because of some crooked things they are doing to customers. One happens at the self checkouts.

Thank you for the videos. Love them. If there's a Costco near you, you can join, and buy 6 Ib of hamburger for $3.85 per pound near me or buy a 6 pound eye round roast for $6.00 a pound and grind it up yourself or make stew meat. I don't eat steak much anymore, but you can spend less to buy a beef loin and cut it up into mutiple steaks yourself. Also, if you shop earlier in the day, look for managers specials that sell out quick. I bought chicken thighs for 79 cents a pound at my local store this past weekend. And yes, I love Aldis. Food shopping is like a game these days to find the best prices isn't it?

Mr Tom, that was a very interesting & enjoyable visit to Wal Mart. Our prices here in North Florida are on point with your area. Our meats are a bit higher though. I really enjoy that chive & onion spread on bagels and celery sticks. That is good stuff indeed! I love Wal Mart. Their prices on everything are the lowest, here anyway. I buy meats at Aldi and fresh produce at the Farmers' Market here though. In my decades of experience shopping at Wal Mart, their produce and meat are okay but, not great. But, it looks like I'll be buying everything, everything I can buy at all, at Wal Mart before long Mr Tom. I am so glad I don't have children to support these days. It's such a struggle just to stay fed and sheltered these days. You always make me smile though, no matter what. God bless you. Give the kitty crew some big ole warm snuggles for me!💛😺

Walmart isn't the best deal out there anymore. Most American butter is from corn fed cows, Kerrygold is grass fed and has 2% more butter fat which makes it creamier, but I'll stick with American butter for a lower price.
