I have watched SEVERAL videos and other programs showcasing hunting and what not, and this series, which plan on following, i was MOST impressed with. You guys, and lady were VERY genuine, and real, you didnt bullshit anyone, hunted STATE LAND rather then a ranch, and i can appreciate that. I dont know much about hunting state land as the 2017 was my first year hunting state land, so to see quality on state land is re-assuring! Thank you for making a great video, and i look forward to watching more!!

Hey Guys, first off..I wanted to say how sorry I was for the loss of your family members....always hits a family very hard especially at times and places where tradition is thick. Another great video...I literally saw it post and waited a day so I could sit down and enjoy it on the big screen after work. Films like this are rare and I need to get in the zone to completely enjoy them. Congratulations on another great year...mishaps and successes....it’s all a part of it....the misses and lost recoveries are part of it. Just the way it is. It was truly some great footage with the drones....just amazing. Seeing your Dad be successful and for his perseverance is truly inspiring. What makes the your stuff so real...is that you all make it that way.....good food, good friends, nasty weather....great bucks to trophies that don’t sport big racks...its all public land and it’s your way....and your heritage you’re carving out. Great job and hats off to Michigan Gone Wild for another great video....Thanks so much for bringing us along with you all...and for all the time it takes in editing such a production!

Just wanted to say awesome video!!! And thank you for relighting a fire about Michigan State land hunting. For a wile I've been skeptical about state land. And with even having family that live in the Upper Peninsula, I've thought it was to far reached to achieve an experience like this. In the lower peninsula we don't find alot of Hunter sportsmanship and conduct as you guys showed in this video. It leads to many not even wanting to head outdoors. So thank you for showing and teaching that an experience of a lifetime can be achieved right in our back doors!!!

State land has been great for me for the past 14 year now. I have gone to private 2 years in a row just never killed anything. Every year I get a deer on state land you just have to go early like around end of September and look around and find a place deep in the woods where people don't like walking

Oh boy yes another Deer Camp video from you guys! Even though we don’t do things exactly the same here in Iowa and Nebraska the hunt is still centered around spending times with family and friends and not necessarily the harvest of the animal. Helping each other is how we like to do it too!

this is one of the best video I have seen . I have hunted 46 years .. and the big rakes and meat has been great .. some times its about the points some times its not . some times its about the clean shot . I past at 21 point half frozen to the bone and standing in a swap up to my knees and up he pop 25 away and ran straight away from me . no real sure shot . I just could not make a bad shot a deer that beautiful . I have two record deer in my life and a lot of food for my family and friends .. great video guys .. this is what deer hunting is about ...Stay Safe Stay Free

Great film that tells EXACTLY what deer hunting is all about. I particularly like the part about your dad taking his buck because it brought back fond memories of my Dad who shot his last buck while sitting in the vehicle because he too was a in a wheelchair. Just the thought that someone would thumbs down this great video, is more than my feelings can bare, it also lets us as Americans and hunters know that there are some people in this country, that do not deserve to live here, this video and its contents, is what being an American is all about. I have to say this or I could not sleep tonight, if you don’t like this video then you should move to a country far , far away from here and never return because if you make our Americans mad at you, and some how expose your identity, I would say that you would not be safe, no matter where you went , I don’t think you could hide from these guys.

Eric Becker I love it as well. But I would never force my beliefs upon anyone else. I would rather encourage than enforce the passing of younger bucks. However, if someone is happy with a buck, I’m not going to judge them, as long as they accomplished what they set out intended to do.

Unfortunately you guys being young and the Deer and Deer Hunting Magazine article about shooting every deer twice being at least 20 years ago, you guys have probably never got to read it. The article talks about that very shot and with a lot of neck shots. The Deer is shocked and goes down like a rock only to get up minutes later and runs away. This is very very common indeed and it sucks when it happens to you. It's great that you guys got this on film to help others learn with you. After seeing my Dad lose a dandy to a neck shot and myself to the same high back shot you have on film we both now take a second more careful shot as soon as we can. No need to panic shoot. Or just keep that scope on them for a few long minutes and just look for any sign of movement like breathing. I wish I had a link to that article. Great job on the filming , hope to see more.

Gone Wild I have experienced the same but not while hunting , I have a 338 Winchester mag that I proof test scopes with and buddy let me tell you ,,deer disappear in to the dirt when I pull the trigger on that thing and never ever run but to save all the meat you must shoot the 185 Barnes or hornady copper bullets , they are so accurate it is hard to believe. I also have a 338 federal and it is a wonderful rifle , it shoots that 185 at 2900 FPS and I get 3100 out of the win mag

Holy Shit! Wow, had to be bad shot placement. Prime example of hunters who think bigger caliber and bullets will anchor them where they stand. That deer should have died just from the shock. I have shot a couple deer with my 270 wsm and 7mm wsm and both deer acted like they weren't hit and I found a scant blood trail and they both ran away never to be found. I was using Win Ballistic Silvertips and found that hits on bone (shoulder area) at magnum speeds, make these bullets explode on contact with little penetration. Great and accurate bullet but you better pick your shots. Went to Nosler Accubonds and no more deer walk away. Cup and Core bullets, ie (Sierra bullets) are great as long as you shoot them at slower velocities like below 3,000 fps. My Nosler load book shows a 200 grain bullet right at 3,000 fps for most max loads so you are pushing the boundary from what I've read from other blogs. I bet he doesn't shoot that much at the range. Just my 2 cents.....Entirely too much gun for deer. Now if he uses it for much larger game, more power to him. Shooting form might be compromised when you know you're going to take some serious recoil. Good luck next time.
@alexpearce1656
@alexpearce1656 6 жыл бұрын
Those silver tip bullets are trash. I use nosler accubond in my 30-06 drops them dead in 15 yards or less. If you are looking for accuacy the accubond are really good at that too.
@donaldsharpless1746
@donaldsharpless1746 6 жыл бұрын
Where did you shoot them. IMO if you shoot them in the lungs (behind the shoulder), in the neck or head, they will anchor any deer pretty quickly. I have read where others including myself have seen them explode quickly without penetration on more muscular areas or bone such as shoulders. If I had an area where I would have all the time in the world to wait for that posing for the camera shot, I would not hesitate to use them again. They are very accurate out of both my 270 wsm and 7 MM wsm. Plus they are made to perform ideally on shots at yardages at 400 yds. At these yardages the bullet slows down enough to keep the bullets from exploding so violently without penetration. Most of my shots are anywhere from 50-200 yds and can be quick decision shots where you don't have that lung shot and have to take out a shoulder. At magnum speeds above 3,000 fps, the BST's are not strong enough. In all seriousness, I don't need either gun at these yardages. Entirely to much overkill. I am actually considering selling both and getting a 270 or a 280. Either will kill anything I will hunt in North America. I have listened to hunters since I was a kid complain about certain calibers that they would never use to hunt with because they have lost deer at one time or another only to find as I have gotten older that is mostly the use of a proper bullet for the application.

Yes once again you guys show how things by me was not to long ago makes me sad to think all the deer camps are almost gone by me. Hope with a little trust i can get people to north central Wisconsin for some old bucks. Ive killed a 9.5 year old on video dressed out at 220lbs and some 5 plus and good 3 to 4s all on lands just like your area. Ups and downs of deer camps good to see them all your brother missed chance at closing the deal ive had happen sucks but learned my lesson as will others always take tue 2nd if they get up. I did same thing so i feel that one. I always worry about wounding any animal where im hunting because of the wolves and other animals getting them from my bad luck if it would happen again. I will not even shoot doe if they have fawns for one reason fawns have 0 chances in my area without mom. I hope if stars do aline i can be part of a deer camp like yours. I also use my ph3 qaudcoptor for scouting its nice to use it for mri in the area i choose from walking and topo sat. Veiws plus i been hunting area for 30 plus years and still learning what i love about it. Hard work with a feeling some never feel when hunting on public land deer vs smaller farm private lands. Dont think im taking away anyone hunt is special just for me i like a added chanlleges of big woods deer. Like i always say anyone has a spot open i always do. My old channel has some of my deer if wanted to check. I also was lucky with a 17 year old plus bear. Not sure how many get taken at that age. 5.5 year old bucks that are run down, not participating in the rut? You might want some help aging deer. Bucks are in peak physical shape at 5.5. Decline begins at 7.5. It's hunting pressure that makes people thing 5.5 is old. It isn't.

A lot of that depends on nutrition and where they live. Not all deer are corn fed and protected from the elements. The deer we hunt survive off acorns and woody browse. This makes them susceptible to harsh winters. Their bodies deteriorate quicker and ultimately these deer never reach full potential. Most of these bucks wont exceed 120", no matter how old they get. This is also attributed to nutrition and the region they live in.

@@MichiganGoneWild I appreciate the reply - but that's not entirely correct. I should have clarified - all bucks, regardless of nutrition, peak around 5.5 years. These animals have evolved to survive these hard winters. They've evolved to rut more efficiently, run themselves down less. Terribly severe winters still take their toll - yes, but it's a mistake to think northern WI/MI is that inhospitable. I've hunted northern Sask, WAY up north, and seen bucks that survive winters far, far, far worse with no supplemental browse. I've never hunted a "corn fed" whitetail. I live and hunt in Northern WI, just south of the UP, and often hunt Superior National Forest and parts of the UP. There is no ag up here. Anywhere. But I too thought bucks never exceeded 120'. Now that I've hunted this area exclusively for 10 years, I can assure you, it's not nutrition. Most of the areas i hunt hold no acorns. No white or red oaks in many of these forest. But, after speaking with this region's biologist a number of times, I've learned that most antler issues are genetic, or related to winter severity. But make no mistake - even deer with no ag access can have decent nutrition in the big woods. Peak antler size is traceable back to the the pregnant mother's diet and the severity of that winter white the fetus was growing. Much of that science is still developing and there are currently studies underway to better understand those relationships, though some have already been published. But don't think that deer without access to ag can't grow big racks, that's flat out untrue. The quality of the browse in my part of the state is quite poor, due to the poor soil quality. This doesn't mean deer have smaller racks - it means there are fewer deer per square mile as the carrying capacity of the land is lower. Anyway, I suggest you give your area's biologist a call - I was fortunate to learn a lot over the last 5-6 seasons because I made that call. Here's the link to the biologists in your state: www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,4570,7-350-79136_79608_83455-378731--,00.html

I learned one thing from this. Yankees can't shoot for shit. Thus the reason the NRA was formed.

@@MichiganGoneWild LOL...not even close. Look at the hit kill ratios from the war and you will see much different. Also you do know the NRA was formed to teach Yankees how to to shoot because of their poor marksmanship in the war. Looks like not much has changed. TIME’s Richard Lacayo explained in a 1990 feature about the group, “The N.R.A. was founded in 1871 by a group of former Union Army officers dismayed that so many Northern soldiers, often poorly trained, had been scarcely capable of using their weapons.

Jack Martin Are you seriously claiming they kept statistics on how many shots were fired and made contact? I feel like I’m arguing with an idiot. And that’s something I try not to do. I’ll say this, if you’re going to come up on someone’s page and start disrespecting them, just remember, we don’t have to show the misses. We choose to, unlike many channels. Also, don’t expect people not to retaliate to your stupid comments.

@@MichiganGoneWild You truly are a simple Simon. If you would do a little research instead if making ignorant brush stroke statements about something you clearly know nothing about you'd realize how ignorant you sound. They absolutely kept track of ammunition during the war and how much was consumed. They kept very meticulous records. Matter of fact many times if soldiers lost rounds or had them unaccounted for they were issued a statement if charges and it was payroll deducted...SMH.
