I LIKE YOUR CONCEPT. I LIKE THE IDEA OF CONTROLLING WHERE THE FEED GOES. WHY NOT PUT A 23 1/2 DEGREE ELBOW ON AT THE BOTTOM AND THAT WAY IT WILL THROW THE CORN A LITTLE MORE OUT AND SPREAD A LITTLE MORE SO THAT MORE DEER CAN EAT TOGETHER AND NOT HAVE TO COMPETE FOR THE CORN. ALSO, A BUCK WON'T BE HITTING IT'S RACK ON THE DOWN TUBE. JUST SOME THOUGHTS ON IMPROVING IT'S FUNCTION. ALSO, I'M NOT SURE WHAT THE LOCK IS FOR. IF I REALLY WANTED THE TIMER AND MOTOR, I'D JUST BUST THE BUCKET OFF THE POST. ALL IN ALL, I LIKE THE BUILD

I was going to put a 45 degree with a 2" opening on it to keep the small animals out but couldn't justify the $60 cost. I have had 6, 8 &10 pointers feed from it, only the mother and her young eat together. I still have to paint it but it don't seem to bother them. You are right though, if somebody wanted it bad enough they could bust it off the post. Thanks for the comment

Look's good, and should work great, I think I'll make one to feed my chickens when I'm gone hunting too,Thanks for the video!!

Thanks, and your welcome. This would work great for feeding chicks or a fishing pond.

Great idea! The only thing I would suggest is a metal bucket and a strap or bungee to keep the lid attached on it.

Thanks! I had a medal bucket and the lid was not the best and it rusted really bad. On the plastic bucket I now have I purchased a lid that seals around the top and opens with a threaded lid. I can replace the bucket for about $2.00 if needed.

🤔 all that pipe could've been used to hold corn. A toilet bowl flange could be used to connect pipe to bucket. Cap with feeder motor could be attached to bottom of pipe. That should hold 50# or very close to it.

I got a feeder like that. I don't like the corn being thrown everywhere. This way they don't have to look for it in the grass.

I have been told that feeding the deer will disrupt their digestion of acorns, buds and bark is this a concern? I personally can't see how a pound of corn every so often would harm them. Especially if there are farms around that leave corn on the ground after harvest.

I have read the same things. What do they feed the deer on a deer farm to make their antlers so big, is this a good thing? is it natural? I have been feeding corn to deer for 20 years and have seen the same deer for years. Lots of deer around my area don't live to be more than 4 or 5 years old. I also don't like seeing the deer go hungry in the winter months to the point of looking like a skeleton and weakening their immune system. I will continue to feed the deer around my area during the winter months as long as I can. I don't feed corn to the deer in the late spring or during the summer months because at that time of the year they don't need the help. Have you notice that anymore everything we eat and feed are animals is not good for us or them. Thanks

What brand timer/motor is that? Do they still make that brand? Good idea.
Wow didn't know that. I try not to hunt around my feeder. I do try to feed the deer all winter because food is hard to come by for them, also I don't shoot doe's because without the doe's there would be no bucks around. I have seen different bucks come in after these doe's that I have never seen before. So I want to keep the doe's around but no more than about 8 or10. Seems like everybody else around me is shooting doe's. During Turkey season we can't have feeders up if we are hunting Turkey.

But you can plant/grow apple trees :) I lived in WA for 4 years and blacktail would eat apples from my hand... The venison was sweet... much better than whitetail :)
