Tim - to fix the ramp so you don't have to use the bar any more, turn the ramp over and run 2-4 beads of welding rod over the bent area at least 6" past the bend in both directions. Grind the rail smooth. This will shrink the rail and straighten it back to its original shape. I use this trick sometimes to straighten welded pieces that deform after welding.

I have a round rock that came from the side of the road into a gravel pit next to my first house I bought in 1983. It's about 30" around and is known as a "pot hole" rock because they end up in a hole in a river and get swirled around enough to wear off all the sharp edges and make them round. I asked the gravel pit owner if I could have that rock if I could have that rock and he told me that if I could move it I could have it. I have moved it to the 7 houses I have owned since. I told my wife I wanted to use it for my headstone but I think it will end up at my daughters house when I no longer have a place for it. This rock holds a very sentimental place in my heart.

I had to go move a big rock from my childhood home before they tore it down. It was a cornerstone for a Tobs barn and wan in our front yard for almost 40 years. It’s now in my front yard.
@johnmedlin58944 жыл бұрын
That was so cool of you to move those boulders for them. We have a similar story, my wife had the opportunity to get a boulder from her family's old homeplace. The boulder was actually the back door step at her grandparents back porch, and we know that it was placed there at least 80 years ago. In fact, her uncle who is now 93 remembers them dragging this boulder from the river bottom with horses or mules. My wife even found pictures of herself as a small child (5 or 6 years old) sitting on that boulder/step. Over time, the boulder was worn to a rectangular shape, and it has a greenish patina to it. It now resides in one of our natural areas. If I had to guess it probably weighs around 600 pounds, maybe more, not sure. My wife has already said, when we sell our house as we retire and down size, the boulder is going with us.

Tim, do you think the grapple would have had enough hydraulic grip to get these rocks? Do you have any videos using the grapple with these big rocks? I've seen your videos with the large logs. In the end do you think the grapple is a better tool for this job? I'm looking at buying my first 1025r and want to make a boulder wall but was worried the grapple would not be strong enough to lift them.
@TractorTimewithTim3 жыл бұрын
The grapple can grip heavy rocks easily. Just make sure you get a lightweight one like the mini322 from agfolks or the Artillian. Do not get a heavy Titan, or your lift capacity will be compromised.
