It's not as crazy as you think. The cycle of abuse makes it easy for the victim to forgive their abuser over and over again. They've been manipulated and gaslit so much that they will justify in their minds why they have to forgive the abuser. Once they're out of the abusive relationship they may still forgive the abuser because of the cycle that's been created but because outside people aren't the ones who manipulated them they will sometimes cut off a person who remains friends with the abuser. But also it's about loyalty and morals. Why would you want to be cool with someone who abuses others? I think its worse as a woman because women should stick together particularly in this case. Unfortunately it's not like that. I know if I had a male friend who abused my female friend or any woman in general I wouldn't fuck with them anymore. But that's just me.
