It takes hard work to maintain a healthy weight so going strictly based off that they are more likely to get the selection of men they prefer, and they are more deserving of love because they put in more work to enhance their strong asset to the opposite gender (beauty). But that's only one metric we're talking about, there are obviously other factors you consider like personality, moral character, etc

I think a lot of people misconstrue body positivity as "if you are fat, then you have to STAY fat or else" (which is why people were harassing lizzo a few years ago when she went vegan) and that's not the case at all. Body positivity exists on the same plane as pro-choice. Ie: it's your body, so do whatever tf you wanna do with it. So if you're fat and you don't want to lose weight or CAN'T lose weight, then you have every right to stay at your weight without people shaming you or pressuring you to lose said weight. Same goes if you're fat and you DO want to lose weight; you have every right to do so without people shaming you or calling you a "sellout" (like some people were doing to lizzo bc she's a body positivity icon that went vegan). It's literally just talking steps to be comfortable with your own body. That's ALL it is. But people will hear body positivity and say "oh so you're telling everyone to get fat" 💀 people and their ignorant, one dimensional thinking baffle me.

I think that any movement or stance that believes that there is no such thing as bad, wrong, or negative needs to be instantly and constantly questioned. There is such thing as a negative body. We can understand how someone got there, but that doesn’t make it a positive. Our bodies can literally show us if we are being unhealthy. You wouldn’t tell an anorexic woman that she’s fine the way she is. Some people are smaller, some people are bigger, but we know that when we eat healthy foods and workout the body naturally goes in a certain direction.
@jihadamcsween267719 күн бұрын
Honestly both points are valid no body should be deemed as worthless or be shamed and discriminated against because of weight however being obese is not okay and if people care and love there bodies they should want to take care of themselves and be healthy. The body positivity movement has turned into something that just allows people to validate there unhealthy lifestyles and make them complacent and okay with being overweight

1000% agree when Dee started talkin about people attaching their whole personality to one trait of them. Idk why people don't understand how complex we are as humans. We can't be defined and shouldn't define ourselves over such simple things like our weight, age, skin color or sexual preferences. I cringe when I see other black people whose whole identity is them being black, or gay people who that is their personality.. gay. Its like nigga, what you prefer in the bedroom should have very little to do with your personality. You don't have to act a certain way. I actually think people would be more accepting of things like skin color, weight and sexuality if we would just stop acting like they were major defining characteristics. There would be less of a separation in my eyes

People celebrate their body/skin color/sexuality because they've been made to feel ashamed abt them. That's why they make it a personality trait ma'am. We all have different life experiences, some people have had harsher times having to deal with those traits so they choose to celebrate them.

I think anyone has the right to leave for any reason they see fit. But...the reason u marry someone should not start and stop with how they look to u physically or how ur genitals feel when u see them. I think if you leave because their looks changed then u didn't love them to begin with. Because someone can get hit by a car and have their face and body irreparably disfigured. Someone could develop a hormone or health condition that makes their weight harder to control in either direction. Looks can change with age. And even after pregnancy with caring for a newborn baby and dealing with post partum depression can hinder a woman from not losing weight as quickly. It's more factors than just ..oh ur fat so ur lazy. Hurry and lose the weight or God forbid my penis won't get hard. You can leave but itd make u a dick in my personal opinion. but im just one person out of billions with an opinion right so who cares. But I also think we should all keep up with our health as best we can.

I would argue it's especially worse for a guy to be overweight when it comes to who finds him attractive or not. I feel like overweight women can find an easier time getting attention from men and even have sex with them than for an overweight guy to even have a woman look his way.

Sorry Dee, if someone is going out there and making comments about a community like that (a community that isn't a bother to any other group of people just for existing, i.e., overweight, people of color, people who belong to a particular religion, people of one gender or another, people in the LGBT community, etc.), demeaning comments that say you have no worth/value, and no right to experience joy and happiness - in this case, the kind of joy and happiness that can only be the product of romantic/intimate relationships... then going out there, and calling that person out through a video is absolutely warranted. Fat shaming is absolutely disgusting, and a form of bigotry and bullying. I'm not making excuses for those of "fat logic" or "fat victim" mentality, but genuine fatphobia is shameful and shouldn't tolerated. Especially when you consider that being fat is not necessarily from just overeating or being a "pig." There can be genetic issues, someone could have a slow metabolism, some people put on weight/overeat due to mental stress/issues (depression, anxiety), or as a coping mechanism. It's not just lazy, sloven, overeaters. It's fine to have concerns - and to raise such concerns - over someone's health due to weight issues, and worry about their life expectancy. We get mad at people for body shaming bulimics and anorexics except for concerns about their health... the same should apply to people that overweight. Not to mention, some people consider an average body type as overweight.
