The reason Def Jam Vendetta plays like a wrestling game is because it was supposed to be a WCW game, but while in development, Vince McMahon bought out WCW, so in place of the now empty wrestling engine, they met up with the president of Def Jam Records who happened to be a fan of gaming and was more than on board to letting them sign people from the label onto the game. Crazy that one of the best fighting game franchises was started because of an accident lol

This game specifically plays just like the N64 wrestling games that use the AKI engine. Games like the WCW vs Nwo games etc. I had played those games so much I knew exactly how to play this game when I first played it lol

WC did the same finisher just like Rikishi and that finishing move is called the Rikishi Driver.

So a couple stuff about the game: -The main characters are Briggs (former military who was dishonorably discharged), Tank (Japanesse rapper struggling to make it in America) Spider (Fomer basketball stand out) and Proof (an adrenaline junkie) they have different playstyles but the storyline is the same for all of them, also no voice actors for them sadly. -Yes, the are moves from the turnbuckle, but they aren't finishers/KO moves, so you gotta go for a pin after those, you can also brawl outside the ring with no count. -The girls have picture galeries that you can unlock throughout the story. -In Vendetta, D-Mob is the final boss of the story, while in Fight for NY he's one of the protagonists. -Only singles matches, Tag matches, Fatal Four Ways, and a Survival Modes

Bro this is the original game, fight for ny was the 2nd game. Also the quiet characters were your 4 choices for story mode. Yes, you can climb the turnbuckle. Also this game allowed characters to have 2 blazin moves unlike fight for NY. Dan G was LL Cool J. Also there were celebs in this game majority of the roster were real people lol except like 8. Also the Deebo and the dude before him were the security guards from story. Funk flex is in the game because he’s the announcer you kept hearing. This was supposed to be a WCW game that got canceled last second and they made it a rapper fight game. Also the man’s name is pronounced (Nor-E) like the mobster Noriega and his partner was Capone like (Al Capone).. I know them irl I know they would get a good laugh off of this! Good video brother

I'm glad both games stand out from each other, one of the pinnacle of fighting games. With vendetta you have the option of choosing 4 original characters. Tank, briggs, spider, and proof. In Fight for new york, you created your own

This was a lot of people’s favorite, just cause the inspiration was to be wrestling game . This one was my favorite & Fight for New York. Fight for New York brought a more street style to it though with different fighting styles & sorts .

I enjoyed Vendetta a little more than Fight for NY simply because it was strictly a wrestling game and it played like WWF No Mercy! Blew my mind as a kid and it had a banging soundtrack!

That was a Diamond Cutter Iceberg did, it was one of DDP’s Diamond Cutter variants in WCW/nWo Revenge. The other move you called the FU/Attitude Adjustment is actually a Death Valley Driver, it originally belonged to Perry Saturn in Revenge as well. Cena’s AA drops the opponent flat on their back, the DVD drops them on the back of their head/neck. Many of the animations in their games come straight from their previous wrestling games.

Actually the lifting cutter was not DDP’s move it was John Laurinaitis who made it first. Johnny Ace it was called the “Ace Crusher” an elevated cutter. DDP took his move and made it more recognized

The Move WC used before the 2nd Blazin Move was Rikishi's OG Finisher, The Rikishi Driver. Rikishi changed his Finisher to the Banzai Drop, to Honor the Memory of his Cousin, Former 2x WWF/E Champion Yokozuna, after Yokozuna passed away in 1999. "The Beast from the East" Bam Bam Bigelow ALSO used the Move as HIS Finisher when he was in ECW. Bam Bam called his Version, Greetings from Asbury Park.

That move that you asked of WC wasn't any of the Dudley Boyz moves that move was Rikishi called the "Rikishi Driver" he barely used it during the 2000's but great another upload to this. I love these Def Jam games to the core I always prayed they would do a remastered for the current gens. especially Def Jam Fight for NY.

Yeah they have Opal Blazin to Kimora Lee in Fight for NYC do to the fact that Def Jam Vendetta came out before Def Jam Fight For NYC because Fight for NYC is the sequel after Vendetta and the company who helped make both Vendetta and Fight for NYC made classes WWE games in the past including classes WCW games the game company is called AKI which is a Japanese gaming company.

Why didn't you watch this first it's the first one? Also it's a clear difference between vendetta and NY being V was supposed to be a str8 up wrestling game with the actual wrestlers but that was cancelled but all the assets were there and they just slapped the moveset into rappers slug game lol. And NY came after with much more flexible and enhanced mechanics in gameplay. Like run ing and dodging and countering moves felt more fluid as well as combos and some characters could even run off walls and other objects. One things I loved about vendetta over NY is the replay slam moves feature as you can see in the video and the biggest travesty in NY was DMX not returning from this game because apparently they didn't pay well back then in vendetta so he said Eff NY 😅 but both V & NY are better than icon by leagues 🔥

Another point that bothered me about you in this vid is that you kept talking about the WWE SvR games.... but the games the moves come from mostly was from the WWF games on 64 using the AKI engine.... The Smackdown/SvR/WWE/WWE2k games are together, and this was part of WCW world tour/WCW NWO revenge/ WWF Wrestlemaina 2000/ WWF No mercy and WWE games on Gamecube including my favorite " WWE Day of reckoning"
