Noptice when a band is "newer" they tend to joke around during interviews, often laughten & sarchasm, later in a bands career after they been drug to the top & bottom & top again & have exhausted all they have to offer & are just riding on their name & past great records ..... They tend to be more serious in interviews & its rarely the full band,instead it will be just 1 member doing the interview.

Steve died. He couldn't come back. Rick lived. They let him make the decision to continue or not. I loved Steve and acknowlege his huge contribution to the music, but we can't bring him back. They had to replace him because the sound requires two guitars. What did you want? For them to stop playing? I don't think they could have found anyone better than Viv. No one is ever going to be Steve. There was only him and then the mold was broken. Viv is a guitar god in his own right, but is humble enough to pay homage to Steve's legacy but still be himself. As I see it Steve and Viv are equal but very very different. It is unfair to expect Viv to be Steve and it would be equally unfair to expect Steve to have been Viv. Great music was made with Steve. Great music was made with Viv. Were they different YES. Has Viv messed up Steve's songs NO. Do we all miss Steve YES.

It actually took longer to replace Steve than for Rick to come back. (Steve died in Jan '91 and Viv joined in '92.) Their album Adrenalize was done as a 4-piece. Vivian's debut with the band I believe was at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium in Apr '92! RIP Steve 'Riffmaster' Clark RIP Freddie Mercury
