An awsome guide for sure, thank you for the effort. :) I do have a question though; If you are an enhancement shaman, and use windfury MH and flametongue OH, would it make sense to go elemental offspec with elemental devistation and elemental fury for 100% on spellcrit (does flametongue even benefit from elemental fury?), provided you gem a bit different for more spellcrit..You would loose out on the enhancement end talent which would suck for sure, but in a hypotetical (no mana issues) scenario...?

Yesss! I was waiting for more Shaman content! I'll watch tomorrow though. I've been leveling a shammy in Classic and have got to lvl 30 so far (enhancement), and I must say I've grown very fond of the class and just feel the urge to gush about it! It feels very proactive - I find myself playing at a slower pace, planning each fight, or maybe two or three fights ahead, not because I can't handle them, but to keep up a good pace and drink as little as I can. Years back, I used to balk at the amount of stuff you need to have on your hotbars, but I think I misunderstood the intent. We're not meant to use all our tools in any situation, we need to make tactical choices on which tools - whether totems, shocks, heals or whatever - we will use in any situation. Choosing the encounter, what abilities and totems I'll use, where I'll engage, planning the timing of back to back fights to make the most of my totem durations, keeping a contingency if things go awry... All this leads to a slower, more deliberate pace, and I love this change, coming from leveling a rogue alt at the same time (which I'm also loving but for different reasons). And of course, I love how I get the best (or worst, if you're a glass half empty type) of both worlds - I feel the impact of a new weapon but I also have sweet magic at my disposal! It has a true hybrid feel. If one were to ask me how I feel on my shaman, I'd say "capable". I may not get a sense of sheer power like with other classes (e.g. lcok and rogue), but I feel like I have a tool for every occasion. And if we get TBC... Hooo boy, I think the experience will take off!

You put so much more work into your videos than most youtubers, this is a great video edit: regarding the reduced cast times of lightning bolt and chain lightning, it was supposed to help resto and enhancement shaman be able to use the spell (especially in arena) without nerfing the spell for elemental. - It's very often correct/better to NS+Chain Heal instead of NS+Healing Wave. Definitely make sure you have both macroed (put any +healing on-use trinkets in the macro as well). If there's lots of aoe damage and multiple people are very low it's better to get multiple people out of the danger zone than to get one guy to very high hp. Not to mention you're less likely to step on another healer's toes that way.. less likely for kneejerk overhealing to occur. - Earth shield usage was very briefly covered but it is good to get used to using it on targets other than the tanks, as many times it is more effective in that way. Basically any encounter with aoe spells going off it's usually better to have it on a healer. Or if healing isn't too much of an issue put it on a caster to help their dps, preferably one that doesn't have as much pushback resistance. Most memorable fight for special earth shield usage for me would be Hex Lord in Zul'Aman, for the spirit bolts phase you NEED the earth shield on yourself because the pushback on that is brutal. Also earth shield doesn't really heal for that much compared to the rest of your healing, so the tank not having it for a fight isn't always a huge deal. It just helps a little bit. - From what I remember Aldor/Scryer basically doesn't matter for ele or resto. If you're going tailoring as either of those specs the healing leg enchant is aldor and the damage one is scryer. Not a big deal since you can buy these or get a guildie to craft it but y'know, convenience. If you're enhance and you want to play the long game you go Aldor because the Aldor version of the Shattered Sun Pendant is much better than the Scryer. All that said unless there's a really good reason to go Aldor I always just go Scryer. Better tier location in Shatt and Arcane Tomes always end up being a bit cheaper than Fel Armaments.
@Frenziedassault14 жыл бұрын
Great guide, thanks for that! Going to go Elemental myself. Probably didn't miss it, maybe just not too relevant for most people, but when I levelled, I regretted taking Scryers over Aldor for the SSO trinket. I know most people would have found a better trinket by then but was certainly an upgrade for me at the time. I am relatively casual though. I should say I killed Illhoof a dozen times and never dropped it:(

if u decide to lvl as elemental for whatever reason, there is neat trick u can use once u get eye of the storm talent (on taken crit 6sec of pushback immunity). Basically u pull mob with 2 or 3 lighting bolts and just about when mob is atop of you hit /sit macro, eat crit and force eye talent proc. Immediately proceed with 2 more uninterruptible lighting bolts to finish up mob. repeat if mob is still alive. With bit of practice u can work this into fluid movement that's not much different from uninterrupted bolt spam.

So synergywise your sv hunter will give around 28 more Raid-AP to your physical dps with that (with +10% from kings and +15% sv talents )

Earth Elemental value decreases if the "taunt" is not a warrior taunt but a flat threat amount. But there's some speculation that it snapshots the Shaman's stamina, meaning you can build a stamina set, totem place, swap out gear and the Earth Ele keeps the Stamina. The same possibility with Fire Ele but we don't "really" know with what it scales. Gift of the Naaru if it is truly 100% scaling will incentivise the person casting the first Gift on the tank to get a mass +healing set, since it could possibly snapshot. Spirit Weapon is not necessary for dungeon tanking, its mostly picked up in Raid tanking and it's threat reduce is completely rectified with the plethora of threat-aggro reducers present in a raid, mitigation is more of a focus in raids. I have to do more testing, but as Enh sham dps we might look to use Flame Shock as the primary Shock until Flame Buffet drops off.
@Fuzzpuff4 жыл бұрын
@1:36:25 I think there's a bit of misinterpretation here and I've been seeing it more often as TBC nears. This issue was discussed in EJ deep dive. I don't think it's considered a bug (can't find any Blizz confirmation of it though). It's simply a result of how the math works out. It's not exactly that DW has a higher chance to proc Windfury. What's happening is that due to all one-handers having speeds below 3 seconds, you will always have swings that could have procced Windfury, but were ultimately ineligible due to being inside the 3-second ICD window. The 36% came from looking at only those hits that were eligible to proc Windfury in the first place. When looking at all hits regardless of eligibility, the proc rate was approximately 20%. 36% was simply the OBSERVED proc rate when controlling for hits that couldn't proc to begin with. From the EJ deep dive: "Analysis of the combat log shows that if you sum all hits, the proc rate while DWing is 20%, but that includes hits you make while inside the 3 second cooldown, which cannot actually proc WF. When you remove the ineligible hits the observed proc rate from the eligible hits becomes 36%." A follow-up test would be to analyze what happens when wielding a 2-handed weapon with a speed below 3.0 seconds.

There's a big problem with recommending totem twisting in TBC groups. Its that it means your wanting ENH to burst their skulls during progression grouping when there is a much, much, much easier way to min max - drop the melee dps. Use a Hunter and GoA.
@DefcampMelderonTV4 жыл бұрын
You won't have a bench like that in 99% of guilds. Most guilds will run a similar comp throughout classic TBC, considering it will be easier than private servers. Honestly, if you can't progress with a dedicated melee group, there are deeper problems than totem twisting
@dairallan4 жыл бұрын
@@DefcampMelderonTV That's a reasonable argument, except we just witnessed Classic Vanilla, which has pretty much shown how the players are gonna hit things. There's gonna be one ENH and he will be in the Hunter group. But the Raid thing really is the secondary concern with this overemphasis on Twisting. Its creating an expectation for twisting in progression instances which should not exist and indeed an ENH being compelled to Twist in progression instances is being exploited. Twisting through a boss encounter to get the edge is a fun and fulfilling demonstration of skill. Twisting through progression instances is a draining and pointless exercise in self flagelation.

@k1llwizzy3 жыл бұрын
you mention the change to Rockbiter at about 56 minutes, but the main reason they did this was to reduce its potency for dual wielding, prior to this change you couldn't use 2, and with WF having an internal CD of 3 seconds it would be FAR better to have rock biter on the offhand so it would work its way back to the mainland that triggers your big WF procs. (also with the new talents you would have to put rockbiter on both weapons to boost your AP and therefor spellpower when attacking bosses that do massive AOE for short periods of time (like barron geddon)
@VicM884 жыл бұрын
The reason WF/FT DPS is more variable than WF/WF is because WF crits proc Flurry. FT does not proc Flurry, meaning the Flurry buff will more frequently fall off and reduce DPS with WF/FT. Your data is interesting because it suggests at higher item levels of crit/hit rating, the range of WF/FT damage will probably start to coalesce at the higher end because the extra offhand WF attacks are needed less to maintain consistent Flurry. The bonus spell damage with FT will also be higher with greater iLevel (as a proportion of its damage), meaning WF/FT will probably consistently outstrip WF/WF as gear progresses.
@DefcampMelderonTV4 жыл бұрын
Very good point that I totally missed. And yeah very interesting stuff. Ofc the white portion of the offhand swing can still proc flurry but you would have more Flurry consistence with the extra attacks

@EB-bl6cc4 жыл бұрын
for PvP it's easily Tauren over troll (I think he misread and thought you said PvE). You get the extra reach for melee (Tauren larger hitbox still exists in TBC), helps you hit people in arena through pillars/etc. although against other melee it's also easier for them to hit you so that's not always a good thing. And obviously warstomp and extra health are both clutch. Extra hp as enh shaman is pretty nice in PvP since you are a punching bag.

About the rockbiter. I think I know why, could would have to ask a few questions. Although with those few questions I bet you can find out why lol. If rockbiter adds flat dps now, does it do it just for that main hand? Or does it do it for both? It could be seen as OP if it adds it like that. If it does add the dps to both, the OP thing could be a weird meta, with a good main hand, with a very slow off hand. Increasing your attack power by... well.. a fuckton. As remember, the slower in classic the weapon was, the more attack power it granted. So could see some weird play with a fast main hand with WF, and slow Off-hand. As we know, Windfury does scale with Rockbiter even in classic wow as seen with "Imbued weaving". or maybe just you know, WF MH, and Rockbiter OF. Or last idea, Maybe, Rockbiter with attack power was too OP for pvp. Think of it. 2 very slow MH and OF, gaining massive dmg. It would almost be like duel-wielding 2 handed weapons, and stormstrike would just wreck them.

1st good job on ur guides Meld realy well done!!2nd They definitely need to reduce number o tp points for unrelenting storm in ele tree so we can get full benefit from that talent!!and in general there are a lot of tps that needs to be buff or nerf or even change!!what u think about this Meld???
@DefcampMelderonTV4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree, not having full benefit of that sucks for sure. I don't think Blizz put a ton of thought into what talent builds would look like at end game. I don't think they will change talents at all but a keen observation

@@DefcampMelderonTV but they need to do some changes not just to throw us an old game and pay to play like classic!!on the opposite that old game needs changes

@@Κούλλις90 I do agree with you but I just don't see them doing it. At least not until the game has run its course like they did with Classic. I think they need player feedback which they won't have until they have actual player experience as we are seeing now with Classic

Presumably while leveling it's preferrable to use a combination of weapon imbues that was most recently trained. So if you got WF at 30 but you're level 38 and just learned a new rank of FT that one ought to be more powerful until next rank of WF at 40. Well I don't actually know what level you learned new FT, I only used it as an example but you get the point.
@DefcampMelderonTV4 жыл бұрын
There's internal scaling of weapon imbues so the most recently trained is never better than another. I cover this is Classic WoW Advanced Shaman Guide 2

I have to point this out, not sure if it has been yet... But when you're talking about the Draenei racial passives at 29:30, you say shadow resistance then state nature resistance. LOL

I love these guides, but I just wanted to point out how hard it is to distinguish between the different lines on your line graphs as a colorblind person. Keep up the good work though!

great vedeo, but there are 2 thinks so far that i remember differently: my grounding totem could get multible spells, fox example when i was in the tank grp in Mount hyjal and i placed it , all casts of the banshes where suked in by the totem. And the grounding totem was still pulsing, it pulses the first time when you placed it, but after this every few seconds. Whit this at archimonde you were still in the fear for some seconds. This is at leas what i remeber playing restoration schaman at the time.

On advanced and new stats you have an error on your slide, in the time it would take you to cast 100 spells normally, 1% haste should yield 101 spells but you put 99 spells

Hey I'm thinking about changing my main to Shaman when TBC classic launches. I just have one simple Question: Why is it fun to play Shaman? Getting to lvl 70 is a big time investment, so I would like to hear from some of you experienced shaman players. Any and all answers are welcome.
@nathansoper18313 жыл бұрын
Honestly? If you like feeling useful at all times, off healing as ele, pure healing as resto then no brainer. Totems are incredible, self Rez with ankh, Rez for group, 15 minute hearth, huge crits, great lore. If you use your whole tool kit, you literally will always be needed.

Thank you!!! I saw one of your earlier guides. I started in The Burning Crusade and was used to High DPS as an Enhancer so I was confused when I saw my recount in Classic, but when I saw your video about when you said something like “You’re never going to top DPS chats; you job is to support others”; that helped me correct a lot of my mistakes. Also, I would like to get your opinion on by Burning Crusade build. 0000000000000000000050252021050013310110055205051050010000000 in legacy-wow dot com (trying to avoid being KZbin blocked). Put that number in to URL in the shaman section. And like you said @53:06, “we could have this debate all day.”, that said, when the Burning Crusade first came out, in Battlegrounds, that one second helped me escaped rouges, make it to flags while in battle, GAVE THAT LESSER HEALING WAVE TO OUR/MY WARRIOR TO LIVE AND FINISH OFF THAT ANNOYING DRUID WHO WOULD HAVE OTHERWISE DEFEATED US!!! Again we could have this debate all day like you said; but in my experience, ANY ELEMENTAL, ENHANCER, AND/OR RESTORER IS INEFFECTIVE UNLESS THEY CAN REACH THEIR INTENDED TARGET OR ESCAPE IN TIME!!! Also, it can be used in battle, unlike any mount. Again, both sides have good points, but in my PVP experience, moving takes priority over damage and allows for close saves; that one second made all the difference for me. In conclusion: In my experience, in leveling and PVP, that one second saved my or my team’s last hit points from reaching zero or (if I could not save them) finish the job which they started; it’s that useful. Again, thank you!

Hey Melderon, are there any space for enhancement shaman with 21 points in elemental tree for Elemental Fury talent, boosting your damage? I was thinking about sacrificing Shamanistic Rage and Dual Wild Spec talent points to improve 100% your shock damage crits. Can you actually find the mana sustain in long fights with mana potions, mana totens, water shield and Shamanistic and Elemental Focus talents without shamanistic rage? The Hit Rating points you could actually try to find with itenmization... I was just wondering about it!! Thanks for your videos, I really like the way you do your in-depth guides! Cheers from Brazil!

Your haste explanation explains haste backwards? It states you can cast 1 less spell if you gain 1% haste. It should state you can cast 101 spells after gaining 1% haste not 99. Quoted from the silde: "if you have 1% haste, in the time it would take you to normally cast 100 spells, you can now cast 99"
@DefcampMelderonTV4 жыл бұрын
It's in the errata (pinned comment)

1:52:40 does this data include flurry? How does that and other dynamic haste alter the dps comparison of WFWF and WFFT?

If not you'd almost expect WFFT to outperform double WF in real raid situations where various haste effects are being used

Question. I've been shaman tanking through classic. Is this still going to be viable? I'm really interested in learning more about it.
@DefcampMelderonTV4 жыл бұрын
You should join the discord, there is a lot of conversation about it
@Caperfin4 жыл бұрын
Shaman Tank is indeed viable, let me explain. Heroic Dungeons are approachable by even new players assuming they know talents, spells, etc. A slightly experienced Shaman Tank can Kharazan anything beyond will ABSOLUTELY require a competent guild and you having the optimal profession, gems, etc. BUT keep in mind this based on overtuned pserver where bosses deals more damage have more HP, in Classic TBC it will almost guaranteely be easier. If you have more question about shaman tanking, let me know I've been shaman Tanking for +10years.

With concussion, it still increases the spell damage by 5% of base, but doesn't add 5% more to the spell power used? Is that right? Or is it a dead talent

If TBC Classic has the same batching as what’s now on the PTR servers, the Elemental Mastery cheese with Chain Lightning and Earth shock is still easily doable. Just spam Earth Shock while the Chain Lightning is being casted and the game will batch the two together.
