Hi Tom and Isobel I have been blown away by your videos which I only discovered a week or so ago. Managed to watch all of the Ireland films- still need to watch the Scotland ones. Your story is inspirational and I can only envy at your bravery and courage in doing something so brilliant. I watch in envy! I really wish I had done something similar at your age…. I am a 50 something Headteacher of a large secondary school in Malvern, Worcestershire and love my job. I certainly can’t complain. However- you have demonstrated that we need to live life to the full….as we never know what is round the corner. As a keen Geographer and outdoor enthusiast, along with a huge affinity to Ireland ( it’s music and Guinness!) you have already got me dreaming of early retirement!! Still a few years yet though, mores the pity. Please keep posting and, maybe one day we will meet up over a beer. Isabel- you would always get a job as a Science teacher in my school, and I would make sure you are looked after. You have such a lovely personality which my students would adore. Such a loss from the profession! If you ever both touring near Malvern and the beautiful Malvern Hills- let me know as we have a lovely Air BnB which would be yours with no cost…..keep me smiling and dreaming with your films…..best wishes Mike

Hey there Mike! Wow thank you so much for this! It's so lovely to hear you are inspired and thanks for your open minded attitude about what we're doing! You'll have plenty of adventures to come I'm sure! Bring on that retirement ha! But nah full respect for you being a headteacher - after having a small insight into the profession - my hat goes off to you - its a toughie and cant even imagine what being a head teacher is like- that's really sweet of you to say those kind things about me and teaching - thank you!! Wow thank you for the amazing offer of the air bnb in Malvern!! if we're in your neck of the woods we will give you a shout :) Best wishes to you too!

Cheers for the content. I always enjoy it. We used to climb Carrauntoohil when I was younger. It is amazing. We camped up there one winter's night and the thunder and lighting was stupendous. Hi guys, that route you took in the Reeks, is a really tough one! And if the weather is any bit dodgy it makes it sooo much harder...you were absolutely right to turn back where you did as the ridge between Beenkeragh and Carrauntoohil is precarious enough in good weather!..if you want to head up Carrauntoohil you could head out to Cronin's Yard..it's much more accessible from that side and there are great facilities at Cronin's...cafe, toilets/showers etc. and I'm sure you can park overnight too 👍

I'm not surprised the attractions around Killarney were so busy, but I'm surprised you didn't make it away from the crowds whilst at Ross Castle to go to the Meeting of the Waters which is an easy, flat walk to where two of the loughs meet and you can write often see people who take the boat trips coming through. It's very picturesque there was well and would have been a great way to get away from the crowds as most people stay better to the Killarney side of the lakes. Also surprised you didn't mention the name of the mountain range are the McGillycuddy Reeks, which always makes me smile. It is an amazingly beautiful area where you are. One thing that I'd like to add is that when you get into West Cork you should definitely try and go to Three Castle Head. It's an amazing setting, not too touristy, although it's becoming more and more famous. It's a bit of a hike across privately owned farmer's land (you have to give a small donation, but not much) to reach an amazing ruined castle by a Lough that is by the clifftops and the Wild Atlantic. Definitely not to be missed, but one warning, check that it's open as the landowner does restrict access at certain times of the year. There are some videos on KZbin or you want to have a sneak peek as well.

That mountain hike turned into some serious steep climbing. I used to love that stuff, a million years ago. Well done for tackling it. Am sure you did make the right decision not to tackle that last peak though. If you had made it along the ridge and up to the top - in all that poor visibility and ice, getting down would have probably been in the dark. The majority of people who get into serious on mountains, do so on the descent, especially late ones. Gorgeous scenery very well captured on your devices. You’ve actually inspired me to do those valley lanes on my adventure bike - when I’ve built it. Thank you for sharing Peace
@LostInTransit2 жыл бұрын
Heya - yeah very true wise words - like you said the injuries are mostly happening on the descent so i agree we did the right thing to go back! I hope you enjoy the valley lanes on your bike - sounds like a proper adventure - especially building it too!!

Hi Guys, great video again, wait for South Kerry 🙂 , the Iveragh Peninsula is probably more majestic than the Dingle Peninsula, so much to explore, great Irish history. Mountain stage is breath taking, old railway line to your left. Keep safe on your travels. Eamonn

good call to abandon Coomloughra horseshoe (that ridgewalk), very very sketchy. Torc always busy, but also the beginning of the old Killarney to Kenmare road a beautiful 12k walk and where, if you know where to look, is a hidden Holly Forest. An enchanted place so much so you might begin to believe maybe there are fairies after all 🙂
@LostInTransit2 жыл бұрын
Thats a shame would have loved to find that little holly wood, it sounds amazing. Although i also kind of like that it remains hidden un-broadcasted over youtube. We should have pushed on, i will know for next time

Hi you two ! Haven't a clue what you're talking about most of the time. ( just Your English accents ). But I love your enthusiasm. Carranthouhill is difficult. Mount Brandon not so bad. But you were sensible not to go any further. I have a copper kettle just like yours. It's an antique now. Must give it a polish ! Great videos folks. Keep them coming !

Great Vlog, yeah kilarney is very touristy, a pity when it's got beautiful scenery! It gets a lot of bus tours from dublin too. I heard it once had more hotel beds than Dublin! X

Absolutely loving your videos of touring around Ireland. I am from Wexford(South East of Ireland) so if you guys are coming around to these parts at some point, ill give you guys a few really great places to visit. If you guys can find a Mr Price shop(They are all around Ireland), i would recommend you go in as you will find plastic and wooden cutlery :) Keep creating. Yous are doing a great job with the vlogs and the editing and inspiring me and so many others. Enjoy the rest of Ireland

Good decision to turn back. It’s tempting not to take mountains of that height as seriously as the Alps or Pyrenees but they’re still dangerous. Unfortunately there’s regularly people killed on Irish mountains due to changes in weather and falls etc.

Hi David - you're so right that its important to take care as they can be so dangerous! Thanks for watching :)
