Been trying to complete every single map in brutal diff or hard if not able. My experience has told me its a los easier to face multiple AIs in brutal rather than just 1 or 2 because they "steal" space for building, so they cant expand properly and gain an advantage in resources. When facing only 1 brutal AI, it grows faster than a fly's interest in your dogs shit. It will always outbuild you and spam armies constantly, by 5 or 10 min its already sending 2 catapults, with heroes and tons of infantry.

Use heroes only. For the Men of the West, first thing you do is Eomer; then follow with Eowyn and Theoden. And your custom hero, of course. Then follow those with Boromir, Faramir, Aragorn and finally Gandalf. After that, make full arrow towers for all add ons of your fortress, and fully upgrad it. Then add a second fortress and fully upgrade it, then a fully upgraded third, forth and fifth. Keep ALL heroes on foot, and use all their powers (automate all powers that can be automated) and all palantir powers. For elves, start with Arwen, Haldir, Glorfindel, Elrond, Thranduil and finally Legolas (take your custom hero as soon as possible too) For Dwarves, take Gloin, Bard, King Dain, Gimli. For Goblins, start with Goblin King, Azog, Shelob and the Dragon. For Mordor, it's that orc captain, the Mouth of Sauron and then the Nazghuls For Isengard, Lurtz, Grima, the Warg rider hero and Saruman. I can beat ANY amount of AIs on Brutal on ANY map with heroes "only" (heroes and a ton of fully upgraded fortresses). To make things easier, add as many of the "mini heroes" units as possible (the 2 noldor battalions for elves, the Nazghuls riders for Mordor, the Deathbringers for Isengard and so forth). It's easy... It will be an insane fight, but it's pretty manageable. And you'll have tons of fun throwing spears from Eomer and Eowyn into catapults, or Bard's black arrows into Mumakils and so forth. Just make sure to use your powers property against the right targets

One of my all time favourite games! The graphics were amazing at the time it was released and the gameplay was and still is amazing. This guy is handling self very well against tough opponents so I know he is a true player of this game. This video brought some good memories 👍🏻👊🏻

Phenomenal defense fending off the constant heavy attack. Ur elf hero was well built and OP. Only advice i would give is this: don’t use Ghosts, hurricanes, and archers against structures, they have no effect. Use it only against troops.

Absolutely not; catapults would have totally decimated the defenses from distance. Shrinking into a tiny place is never a good option. Also, a combined attack would destroy it too. This worked well because the attacks were not coherent.

My favorite game of all time. Still have the disc and box after all these years. I would have recommended leading with the earthquake, sending in army of the dead against mobs not structures, then Rohirim while the army drew fire. Also, target order would have been take out what's killing you before anything else if possible, and don't stand in one place while catapults are raining down.

I've never even asked myself if it is possible to beat 8 Brutal, because it seemed so insane to me. I replayed the game 2 years ago, and the best I could do was take down 2 Hard I think.

Actually it gets easier the more AI you play against, because they cannot expand due to not enough room and so they never reach their full power. Vs one or two, they will reach immense power.

You could have also built dormitory expansions when you were pop-capped. More pop, more rangers, more damage output, and units that can level up and be moved where you need them (as opposed to building fixed tower expansions)

My Dad and I had to get mods to increase the difficulty of even the brutals because we were able to mindlessly wipe full maps no matter what stupid crap we tried. I still have the original box with all 5 or 6 CDs for the install.

Nice, you could go into more archers and less towers from the start I guess. Was loving compstomps in my time where servers were alive and well. Favorite map nanduhirion. It's way harder without custom hero, yet is a bit easier with elves. Also worst as enemy are goblins and elves cause range of mountain giants and treants makes it horrific experience. It is also bad vs human and angmar for trebuchet reasons. Anyway, wp.

This game with few visual upgrades would be as great as it was on the day of the premiere. Anyway only games when I was solo able to defeat enemy on brutal were on Helm's Deep with men and when I was playing as dwarves, coz theyr ability of using tunels to quickly go through whole map. So I'm really impressed!
