Pinaka is a prime example of not waiting for a Ferrari in the first instance and inducting what you have and then improving it over a period of time and slowly making it a ferrari. I still remember when their initial version was used in the Kargil war even when they were still under development. Interestingly DRDO scientists were actually on the front lines supporting the army in using them. Some were even injured in a Pakistani counter artillery bombardment.

The real competition of pinaka is not with himars but k239 chunmoo and israeli PULS. And honestly they have better chance to win the french contract than pinaka. Reason being the the sheer range of rockets these two systems offer from 122mm to 600mm and different ranges. Plus they have already made a tie up with french consortiums. I personally want pinaka to win but we have to be realistic here.

With guidance, the accuracy should be better than 30m. 10m to 5m would be better. I wonder how accuracy is measured? What % of hits need to be within 30m? Is the inaccuracy due to the GPS or the rocket homing.

For longer ranges we have pralay missiles. Missiles are more effective than rockets for longer ranges ( 400km) as the rockets don't have High maneuverability they will be intercepted, because a barrage of rockets gets at 400kms long gets detected early and will be intercepted.

@ even if fatah or Gatah it doesn’t matter it will have the same cep. If it uses newer navigation technology and sat nav then its 7 to 30 metres in a salvo. It one or two rocket launch it might be more accurate. In salvo this is the norm. I hope you understand and under 5 meter cep always if it has its own seeker
