Well I would choose the French aircraft carrier design. It's much more affordable than US ones US ones are expensive and for good reason. It's advanced There's nothing wrong in taking advantage of foreign design. Security comes first as we see the increasing Chinese influence, we should at least tell them to design according to our needs while we focus on Vishal.

CATOBAR system although has the capability to launch fighter aircrafts with larger payload and AEWACS it requires a lot of maintenance and puts lots of stress on the carrier (in generation of large amount of steam to operate it) and it's not the most advanced system as u mentioned... General Dynamic's EMALS(electromagnetic assisted launch system)is currently the most advanced lauch system currently operational only on USS Gerrard Ford class newer super carrier which is currently undergoing sea trials in US EMALS was offered to India by General Dynamics for IAC-3

You are quite wrong. The British originally developed 5 different designs for the queen Elizabeth class out of which two designs are CATOBAR and those designs are being offered to the Indian Navy. So the design being offered is like a light version of the American Nimitz class. if we want to go ahead with this deal or not is difficult to answer. It will be quicker to build the queen elizabeth design but the planned INS Vishal will have EMALS instead of CATOBAR and it will have more defensive weaponry whereas the Queen Elizabeth class is said to lack self defense weapons.

I do not agree fully: 1. BAE AGREED that they will accomidate caliber, it is easy to bartan with u.k than usa directly for carltober. Usa not Give catober only without other bulk order. For example India bundela meteor missile with aircraft for easy procure. France given required pressure to MBDA. 2. India is a kid in this technology, so they will obtain necessary technology from u.k. India shall take endeavor to obtain F35 b and in later stand develop its own. Old INS Vikrant was having catapult and skyjump system .we have operated both INS Vikrant and Viraat also.i am also agree with you to make our own carrier .But it takes more time from 10-12 Yrs Now we are operating one carrier .To fulfill our requirement one carrier should be always operational .in case of maintenance of a carrier Navy will be without carrier.thanks.

The problem to build INS Vishal is the time frame. It might take at least 15 years. I am sure the cost will be more than that of HMS Elizabeth. If Elizebeth can be converted for Indian needs say within 3 years India should buy. It is the urgency. As such Carriers are a waste of money, since we already have two of them our actual need becomes four Carriers one each for Arabian sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean and one as spare while the other undergoes refit and maintenance,which is a constant requirement.

When India develops its weapons industry and produces excellent weapons should other nations refuse to buy them because they themselves should spend billions on their development? Britain for example is in discussions with India re supply of the Bramos Missile, should Britain develop its own, in which case India will not benefit by one Rupee or accept that buying the Indian missile is is a better deal that pumping out its chest and spending billions on its own development. Remember it was Britain who produced the first aircraft carrier and it was Britain who developed the Harrier VTOL, India bought the end product and didn’t pay for its development. Democracies should work together to get the best not involved themselves in massive additional cost when the money would be better spent on the people who actually have to pay for it. If the QE class carrier is not ideal for India and if they can not buy an ‘off the shelf’ carrier to meet their needs then that is the time to design and develop their own.

Number of things are wrong here 1) The Indian delegations have requested BAR for a CATOBAR design... The BAE has already designed CATOBAR for UK but UK selected STOBAR 2) HMS Queen Elizabeth can also be equipped with Rafale M , Super Hornet 3) Indian Navy has already decided for super carrier even before HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH design was offered 4) Selecting this design will drastically reduce the time by 3-4 years

Queen Elizabeth class can be fitted with cats if required. It's the best carrier design in naval history,it's so big, so cheap,a very small crew to operate, fast, has two towers and two lifts, room for 80 aircraft(maybe more ) But it does need escorts, so two destroyers, a submarine, frigates, apache gunships and f35s and supply ships..its a war machine.

I think it would be better to buy blueprints of 110000 ton USS GERALD S FORD With catapult-assisted takeoff and arrest recovery. Though Indian Navy officials are best what they do. and also navy engineers have to focus mostly on indigenous technology like Catapult launch, Nuclear Powerplant, etc The US took almost 40-50 years to make Nimitz & Gerald s ford like aircraft carrier. so I think India also can cause India has a pool of great scientist and expertise. but the central govt. have to spend money on research & development to expertise the indigenous technology in such critical technology areas for making indigenous huge aircraft carrier, Kaveri engines, etc.
