@@Kiwiwanderer drug and alcohol addiction isn't what you think it is. It doesn't care about intelligence, age, background or personal circumstances. It is a disease of the mind, body and soul. It makes those affected selfish and self seeking and hinders their ability to make good decisions. That being said it is not an excuse for harming people and is not a reason for leniency.

I know a Police Officer who killed someone in a high-speed chase. He was no longer able to serve on the Police Force. He was so deeply affected by what happened that he chose to leave that honorable, respected profession. I have much respect for Law Enforcement. She was obviously devastated by the unthinkable damage that resulted from the choices she made. Perhaps, many alternate choices all the way around could have prevented this horrific tragedy. We will never know. I pray that the family and friends somehow find comfort and peace. I pray that everyone involved with this unthinkable tragedy find redemption through the grieving and healing process.

You're sorry now because you got caught and you are finally facing consequences. So sick of people using drugs as an excuse. Doing drugs is a choice. Everyone knows the risk of doing drugs and the chances of getting addicted, if you choose to take that risk and become an addict that is on you. There were already chances given and this was the outcome.

The deadly crash was the third time in less than 12 months that Jaramillo was charged with leading police on a pursuit. She pleaded guilty to charges stemming from incidents on Sept. 7, 2021, and on Oct. 8, 2021, where she had stolen vehicles, which she then used to lead police on chases. In each case, she claimed to be a victim of kidnapping, though evidence proved no other people were with her.

Never do drugs in the first place. No drug addiction. Don’t drink, no addiction. My dad took me to a casino when I turned 21. I felt drawn to go back. He had a horrible addiction. I decided after 3-4 times and wanting to go back. I never would go back. I didn’t. After a divorce I started drinking. Again I felt drawn. Made me feel better for a short time. It was just a bandaid. A temporary fix for what could be a permanent problem. I stopped. God filled the void.

Sorry you will miss out on watching those you love grow up…but at least you will see them again and be a part of their lives if your family chooses to do that. The people that died because of your bad decisions will never have a chance to do that with their families ever again. So glad to hear you are growing closer to God. Cherish that relationship. People that die at the hands of an alcoholic and drug user really don’t want to hear that as an excuse. At least have a little respect for them and stop your self pity.

Stop using drugs as an excuse for bad behavior. Every adult has a choice when it comes to drugs and other addictions (food, gambling, etc). You have been making bad decisions your entire life. Nothing about you has changed. Domestic violence also is not an excuse. You made the choice to stay with that person. Also, I am so tired of people saying they found God or have gotten closer to God. Reading the Bible doesn't mean you have changed. It doesn't mean everything you have done should automatically be forgiven. The victims decide when you are forgiven.
