If there used to be a lake, and the heaviest battle was on the shallow part of the lake, couldn’t the bodies/armory have been floated away with the lake? I can imagine with all the battling going on, there wouldn’t have been suffient time to pick up the bodies the day after. And after a week in the water, you might want to leave the bodies alone for fear of infection and well, let’s be honest, who wants to pick up their slimy descendant. Putting a big stone cross could be a way to deal with being unable to have picked them up. Excellent video nontheless, thank you to all the wonderful people who put their hard effort into this

With all the heavy armor I'd assume they'd be weighed down enough not to float away, but yeah fear of disease was most likely the big reason they got left where they were, seeing as it was warm and all too speeding up decay and all that.

What happens to the skeletons? Do they lay these people to rest again or stick them in some museum cellar?

Elizabeth Jones After analysis they are usually put on display, loaned to other researchers for research purposes, or stored. Sadly they cannot be just returned to the ground because their value is too high. It does feel wrong but I've realized the necessity

@@the_biblioklept2533 thank you. But in the end, they are people and there is no respect for their remains when they are kept just for their value. They should be interred.

@@elizabethjones5041 That's a very religious point of view. From a more pragmatic point of view, it's only the friends and family that actually hold such sentimental values on the dead and they are all long dead themselves. Personally, I think it's quite an honour to have your long-dead body educate future generations. A lot of people fear being forgotten because that would mean that your life had little meaning in the greater span of things, which is why we have gravestones and erect monuments. But if your body is dug up and studied by archaeologists who learn about how you lived and died, even if they don't know your name, then you're no longer forgotten. Names are fleeting things, but in a museum or archaeological laboratory, your very physical being continues to exist and be remembered. That said, I've heard it said that "at what point does grave robbing become archaeology?" is a somewhat uncomfortable question even for archaeologists.

I look at the history of our species, driven by greed and violence, then I look at the world today and sadly I see little change. The predators of history were knights, dukes, barons and kings. The modern day equivalent inhabit corporate board rooms and governments.

I'm going to be the first immature person to say I read that as _"Defenders of... something else they didn't want you to do in the Middle Ages because it was of the devil."_

I'm surprised that they wouldn't ask the locals how to pronounce the village name. It's Mästerby, not Masterby, after all. But then again, even attempting to pronounce things correctly is too much to expect from English speakers...

the medieval world was not from the 5th too th3 15th century. this is modern left wing bullshit as usual. the aspects of a society that made it "medieval" were put into place at different times in different parts of europe but the age as a whole cannot be realistically argued to be in place until the 11th century. the time before that used to be called the dark ages but really that name should be changed to something like the pagano-christian age but certainly not the same as the medieval age. the way history is being changed in Britain is shameful and its never done to the benefit of understanding and accuracy. sad.
