Thank you, Coach. At 4:30 mark, Your opponent could potentially chase a calf slicer on the left leg, by trying to lift your right leg up. Terrific video, thank you very much. Nik

John Danaher's Leg Lock DVD shows some really effective attacks from the double trouble position that I think you can't just ignore
@AbsoluteMMAStKilda6 жыл бұрын
I think you are talking about straight footlock attacks. Most high level competitors would not tap to that in competition, and probably not in training either. The dangerous one is the Aoki, I could be wrong but don't believe Danaher shows that.
@blackfrog15346 жыл бұрын
@@AbsoluteMMAStKilda I'm referring to a couple of things that Danaher shows. First the double heel hook attack where you use a reverse figure4 grip to apply an outside heel hook to your opponents secondary leg. That is supposed to, as Danaher would say xD, cause tremendous braking pressure that can only be avoided by your training partner lifting his hips and in doing so expose the heel of the primary leg to the heel hook you wanted all along. Then there is the leg lace ashi attack or the Texas cloverleaf that I think can be a serious threat. And also Danaher shows a few ways to position your hands and your opponents legs in a few ways that will allow you quick access to the primary's leg heel when you release the secondary leg. Anyway sorry for the long post, I'm not a high level competitor, all of these are just honest questions and I would love to hear your thoughts. I love your KZbin channel and you and Craig are an inspiration, best of luck to both you in the future. And thanks so much for taking the time to answer my previous comment. Best regards from Serbia.

Nice. Kind of similar to Felipe Pena's escape. Is there a much better heel hook escape from 50/50 guard? Seems to the killer these days. Pena got caught from Tex Johnson earlier this year.

Why is this called saddle, again?
@Thebikewrench6 жыл бұрын
K, backwards hipping out is a great concept, but the Spiral /turn is what some heel hook systems (Danaher system) depend on to expose the heel? Would it not be more effective to hip out backwards (as your video shows) to buy time and then attack the triangle in order to clear the knee line?
@AbsoluteMMAStKilda6 жыл бұрын
Hi Russel, i'm not sure what you mean, but this method of escape works very very well. I've tried other ways and found them much less effective, but not sure if I have tried the way you are suggesting. Perhaps try them both out and let me know the results.
@Vorador476 жыл бұрын
i think i know what you are referring too, but that's when someone tries to roll With the heel hook to relieve pressure and escape. in this case, you are turning the opposite way. which helps hide your heel, however, if they have caught your heel already, you will basically apply the heel hook to yourself and will be a day for you.

This system is fantastic for defending the heel hook but it is the first video Lachlan has ever made that contains something I strongly disagree with. Saying you can just completely ignore whatever your opponent might be trying to do to attack your free leg. I have been ankle locked on that leg plenty of times. Someone with even a halfway respectable ankle lock will break your foot off from that hold so you will have to address it. The way I discovered this was by taking Lachlan's advice and ignoring their attacks on that foot and keeping both of my hands on the ground. Got ankle locked numerous times.

They shouldn't be able to if you "boot" your foot. Basically extend your leg and pull your toes back
