This week we discuss a DIFFERENT way to think about blocking punches! This idea is so simple it will be a game changer. Easy way to defend punches is to put something in the way to block.
1 ESSENTIAL concept that can make a REAL difference to your self defence, martial arts, even your fight training for any beginners. Get this right and you will improve your fight game regardless of what level you are now. You will be able to block punches!
It’s important to think about your approach to self defence and martial arts training. You should plan what you are going to train, and strengthen the weak areas in your fight game.
Studying your fight game is also key to improving your martial arts training. Seek information from different sources to improve your approach and understanding of your martial art. Lastly train constructively every day. Change your patterns of movement to improve you martial arts game.
Great fighters are made by their training. You are only as good as the way you train. So train hard and train properly to develop good habits.

As we say in the U.S, you've covered all the bases. Great practical instruction. I apply most of these principles in my training. Thanks again till next video.

Excellent examples. I learned this also in Krav Maga classes, the tactical space, close and far. Jiu jitsu also stresses filling that space and limiting the attacker’s chance to strike. Well done again.

. I like Baguazhang because it enters an attack from the outside by moving around the opponent and attacking from 'weird' angles, so you are constantly avoiding their attacks by controlling the distance from behind them, where you can do whatever.

Offensively I always use feints and non telegraphic attacks in a direct way(whether that be a punch or kick) and I always control the ranges, no matter range it is. If you allow the opponent to control the range, than you've pretty much loss that battle.

You can use boxing and certain other styles but fact is like you said you might not be able to wind your arm back for a straight cross. Or enough room for MMA moves. You fight where you are, as you are. But boxing and MMA knowledge mixed in with relentless gross hitting following one after another is key. I remember someone said kick someone in the knee if they’re bigger and stronger than you. Ok, and.....? Or what if you don’t have that distance and he just side swiped you or you don’t have the opportunity? You get my point. I never lock out any possibilities.

This guy comes closest to reality about street fights but still, all of these videos are fun to watch but that’s all they are, TV. Street fights are fast & all this fancy shit means nothing. You don’t have time to think about it. It basically comes down to whoever can keep their balance & not get hammered on while laying on their back, not get knocked out by a random lucky shot or doesn’t get winded will walk away.

You gave me idea, .... if someone starts a close confrontation, if you can, back up once for space, then if your space is instantly invaded again, that's the time to strike ???

I have to disagree with there only being two distances to fight in. There's close range for grabs, mid range for strikes, and far range for weapons. Far range could include knives or sticks, but mostly it means guns or projectile weapons. A complete fighter should know how to fight or defended themselves in all these ranges, like knowing how to duck and take cover instead of running so you won't become a target if you hear gunshots. Why? Because, you may never know what range you'll find yourself in once a fight or battle starts.
