Alot of pro boxers dont like to catch anymore. The main one i always seen catch shots was Floyd. When im sparring the main thing i love to do is catch and counter . I love dudes who like to jab alot .I have a field day. But for those watching always make sure after u catch the shot u take a step back because u may catch some heat from their right hand. My coach always made sure i took a step back any time i caught the jab unless i was going in. I love this channel. Subscribed!

Hey, Coach Anthony! I am an old boxing lover guy (63) from Brazil (São Paulo, Downtown) and just passing to say hello to you and your team. Your classes are so good and helpful, specially in this pandemic times. Congrats from BR. Luiz Mauro

I love the way you teach. First of all... YOU TEACH! You really communicate so that boxers are all levels can grow from what you’re sharing. (The same is true of your book.) Partner drills are great. I started out with a very old school trainer named Amilcar Brusa (trained Carlos Monzon among others). He had me doing a lot of this: jab, 1-2-1, 1-2-3, double hook (body, head). It’s a great way to really develop. Too many boxers (AND THEIR TRAINERS) just want to jump in the ring and go full out when that usually means technique is not going to improve because you just have to scrap. If you get things tightened up before going all out, sparring becomes more valuable (AND SAFER!). Thank you, Coach Anthony. Real students of the sweet science know it’s about growing by doing things right. And you are clearly a true student of the game.

The jab is my go-to! This is why I always tell my friends that even though I'm right-handed, I'd rather lose my right hand in a fight and fight with only my left hand than lose my left-hand and fight with just my right hand.

This is a good drill for beginners. We do something similar and then we take it to another and more realistic level, we get each of the guys to aim for their opponents head instead of just the glove, outside of the opponents head, so then they can block the punch realistically and or move out the way.

MMA fighters need to learn this Im always amazed how some keep responding to the jab with power jabs and the "victim" doesnt catch it everytime they throw the jab At least use movement
@adcyuumi4 жыл бұрын
Mike's jab comes straight out of his guard position with no tell; really clean. It looks a little slow, but it ain't. His stance is always good to where he could drive that jab right through somebody. You think it's a pawing jab but it'll hurt you. Love it. You said that they'd been sparring. Mike looked a little slow and clumsy out there... was he gassing out a little before the video started? If not I think he might want to work on his leg muscle stamina. It'll speed up his footwork a lot if those muscles aren't getting tired. Jamar's jab looks wickedly fast, but he lunges with it. There's a rhythm tell. You'll see him take weight off of his front foot and sort of spring forward off the back foot as he jabs. His body weight behind a snapping jab vs just some neck muscles... not something you want to get hit by squarely, but it won't do much if the target leans forward since all the power will dissipate. He looks like he's used to fighting guys who have slower reflexes than he does, but that's going to catch up with him. As he ages he'll slow down just a little, and he's bound to face somebody faster than him at some point who will take that jab away from him. Great video as usual. Good to add in with this drill is the quick double jab, randomly. You have to get used to seeing it.

Sachin kumar saw cutting weight is what boxers do to get ready for fights and very dangerous something they only do when in a training camp. He can give general outlines on what to expect but if your trying to cut weight you can’t get advice from a coach that hasn’t been there from the get go find a coach you can meet and train with cutting weight should be supervised. If you just trying to lose weight boxing alone will do it and any popular diet with discipline will do.

If you have already done this at gym and in sparrspared is it OK to practice this in simulation oring heavy bag or shadow box I don't have any friends where I live and the gyms are shut due to quarantine. I was told shadow box you should also practice block and return like left hook ect as it gets the body used to the movement. Obviously we need a partner for sparing but for many of us who have no mates it is difficult or actually even impossible 😢😑

Do these blocks work in a street fight without the gloves?
@Deathskull00014 жыл бұрын
I believe so, since they're utilising movement as well, so the hand would more deflect the blow, rather than catch it like a shield. Still though, curious as well.

Of course you can but you have less coverage without gloves, try to not punch in a street fight if you have power, you risk hand injuries, use elbows, knees, finger on the eyes and headbutt
