Defending Zone Read with Surf/ Shuffle Technique

Made this for my EDGE PLAYERS and thought it would make a good teach tape for defending zone read. Option concepts really on reading defenders and know what to do when you are UNBLOCKED is critical. Playing Surf/ Shuffle is a critical technique for all young EDGE DEFENDERS to understand. Let us know your key coaching points when teaching players to defend zone read!

I dunno. I think #3 and #10 do a great job working in tandem to trap the qb on the keep. I thought #3 timed up his approach nicely. The qb had no chance to throw the pass to the man #3 should have covering. Besides, #3 had help coming downhill with force. I also think the 2 foot hop was appropriate and allowed #10 to be explosive off his plant and crossover step. The idea that crossover steps are wrong in that situation is disproven in this clip. The 2 foot hop to a crossover sprint is called a plyo-step.
