Qatar MoD also ordered 12 helicopters NHI NH90 NFH (Nato Frigate Helicopter) and Marte ER missiles for them (declared range at least 100 km). The helicopters can also use MU90 torpedoes, don't know if Qatar MoD ordered also the torpedoes. The total order of NH90 was 28, since there was also an order of 16 NH90 TTH (Tactical Transport Variant). There is an option for additional 6 NFH + 6 TTH.

Very curious concept of a mini or should I say nano? Task force group for such small country the Qataris are getting themselves quite a powerful small fleet.

They are small, but dripping with oil money. They also bought a total of 96 new fighter jets, 36 F15Es from the US, 36 Rafales from France, and 24 Tyhoons from the UK. So they are basically buying alliances/ reassurances from the top 4 Western countries to secure their allies in this recent Qatar vs Saudi Arabia rivalry.

The what navy? Do they know it's not going to do much if it's the size of a Corvette.
@Lou84mm6 жыл бұрын
Not about size, it's about the capability. Qatar strategy is sound when you add the location of the country and the combined capabilities of its armed forces. They're not interested in ruling the world, they just what to protect whats theirs.

Qatar is getting an LPD??? well this is certainly interesting .

and Its better armed than the UKs Queen Elizabeth Class Carriers lol
@aquillandscroll64285 жыл бұрын
Jyral Nadreth heh mate,there’s a difference between aircraft carrier and LPD,the role of the QE is an aircraft carrier,thus it will mainly be protected by type 45s and 26s instead of being by itself.Do keep in mind this LPD will be long destroyed in a solo battle against QE,simply because the QE has jets whilst the LPD doesn’t.Anyways,I could keep mentioning in ways how better the QE is,but clearly you’re either a troll,misinformed,or largely underestimating the capabilities of the QE.

@sergarlantyrell78474 жыл бұрын
@@jyralnadreth4442 Yeah well Qatar doesn't have to factor in £35bn for replacing their SSBN fleet/nuclear deterrent into their naval budget. When the largest ship you're ordering is a single landing ship only big enough for a single platoon and the next is a 3000-tonne corvette, and even then you're only ordering 4, you can usually afford to add a few extra missiles on to your 5 new ships.
@CriscCiaddu2 жыл бұрын
It was confirmed that Qatar only ordered the LPD to mount the Kronos Grand Shield Anti-ICBM Radar which was too large to fit on Doha class Corvettes or Falaj-2 OPVs. The LPD will have the task of creating an anti-ICBM bubble where it will also send information to the rest of the frontline ships equipped with VLS Sylver A50 systems to shoot down ICBM targets. The LPD can be considered an multi-role missile destroyer/cruiser with anti-ICBM, AAW and a small LPD capability.

LCS outgunned by that second tiny coat. This is just sad.
@urmumisaho694 жыл бұрын
That second “mini corvette” would be an addition to any navy. Just reading they’re only 110mil. Super cost effective as a light escort/picket ship if only it had a helipad it’d be perfect as a workhorse.
@CriscCiaddu2 жыл бұрын
This "tiny coat" can do as much damage as a Gowind 2500. It is equipped with AESA radar, crew of only 34 men, VLS MICA NG, Very Stealth, anti-cruise missile capability, ASuW capability, most advanced combat system ATHENA, powerfull EW system and the cost of the ship, crew and logistic maintenance is less than the cost of a corvette/mini-frigate.

I agree. The LCS concept was a huge waste of taxpayers money, and yet they will keep building them, I believe there are another 10 LCS ships to be completed by 2025.
@pacificstatesofamerica6 жыл бұрын
LCS were never designed as frigates. Heard of the term Corvettes? It’s a class that hasn’t been properly been represented in the US navy since forever. We have the FFG(X) program for a proper frigate... LCS vs. foreign frigates are apples vs oranges.
@CriscCiaddu2 жыл бұрын
The OPV Musherib Class can do as much damage as a Gowind 2500 for example. The LCS is quite expensive for a ship that fills the role of Corvette.

the Qatari Navy should have opted for a fleet four brand new Mistral II class i-SMARTFuelCellΔ e-HYBRId® powered 36,849 ton (43,650 ton loaded) non-amphibious (CSTOL) multi mission LHD . . . unlike conventional LHDs it won't feature a dedicated vehicle deck but it'll have an aft well deck in the rear most stern section lower hull . . . the available space in aft well deck will fit limited number of armoured IFVs & self propelled artillery units that will be transported from the LHD somewhere in the middle of the ocean (since LHDs being a proper ocean going warship cannot sail into shallower waters) to the shore in state-of-the-art electro-solar powered 1,056 ton (1,900 ton loaded) autonomous multi purpose heavy lift tactical barges . .

Impossible. The italian Leonardo is the father of this type of radar. The study of this project started in the 90s. The radar was ready to be mounted on the Cavour in 2001. Also, later, we used the technology for Horizon class and the FREMM frigate.
