On board video from patrol vehicle Ford Crown Victoria during defensive driving training. Run shows practice run on pursuit course. Limit 2:30 sec, time of this run 2:05 :-) I wish I could run the course with my WRX STi

Intake sounds good but the distinct whine on the P71 everyone loves is just the high output alternator clutch 😂

That V8 is fantastic, that is one car that can catch a variety of sports vehicles simply withh its power and handling.
@AJ-zb4iq9 жыл бұрын
Yes the V8 is very powerful, but the handling is what it lacks. The only good thing it has handling is on the highway (you can drive 80-90MPH and still feel very stable). Only turning is bad since the steering wheel is very loose. The P71 though has a bit better handling (more responsive than the original crown victoria). In my opinion though, good handling means road feel and a tight steering wheel which you will not find in a Ford Panther. Its a good car though.

If you know a crown vic like the back of your hand and drive it like it's a part of your body you can catch some seriously fast cars with them it's all about experience in the vic
@MrCliffda3rd9 жыл бұрын
You can slap more HP on that beautiful sounded 4.6L, but it's impossible to get Ferrari handling out of a floaty Crown Vic, even with the P71's stiff suspension. I test drove a few Vics over the years and really love the sofa ride.

Yes! They honestly are pretty powerful considering they are 4100 lbs. With a few performance mods, they can be as quick as a new edge mustang!!

And thats probably the very best that they have in this video ive out drove many crown vics and caprices back in the day in the adirondacks plus i drove dozens of them as cabs not all of them can wheel as good as this this person

I recall reading that during one of the Ford / Police meetings, that Ford offered the 4.6L 3V upgrade but it would mean paying more per CVPI and that the Police buyer representatives did not want to do that. The 4.6 3V should physically fit, considering the 4.6 4V fits in the Marauder (basically a 03-04 Crown Vic). The 5.0 Coyote would probably even fit.
@Ieatpeople211 жыл бұрын
the 4.6 3v would definitely fit, since its the exact same size as the 2v, there is a slight difference the cylinder heads but there is plenty of space. i have an 07 cvpi that i would love to stick a 5.4 or a coyote 5.0 into. or even do an ecoboost swap from a new f150...
@CSX86007 жыл бұрын
Ford should've made those options rather than just discontinue the Vic :(

Nice video but it just reminds me of how slow the Crown Vic runs. It's a shame Ford didn't put in a new engine in that platform. The 4.6L 3V V8 with 300-330 hp would have been perfect, and a 5.0L Boss V8 would be even sweeter.

@esallgoodman well, I didn't they'd be around THIS long...but it's pretty cool that some agencies are still running some Crown Vic's, although I'm sure it's mostly because of budget issues.

Very nice, however I've only owned Crown Vic's all of my driving life (5 years) and I'm fairly certain I can shave 5 seconds off that time (following the same procedure) if I had a few laps (of any course) to really push a CV safely. :) You're exits are fine, but you turn in to the corner all at once (a big mistake with heavy cars that have body roll) and gas out earlier as there is a lag time with this engine (for various reasons, probably throttle body unable to get air in instantly).
