They are the ones that allow the linebackers to make the tackles in most cases. Like the o line for the running back and quarterback

Coach Morton I need help with some solo practices I’m in middle school and play defensive line
@CoachMorton5 жыл бұрын
I don't know what type of fronts you run or what position you play, but I would focus on getting off the ball fast and staying low when you fire off. Work on resetting your base if you begin getting to high and what ever your assignment is, execute it. D-line is a very selfless position. Going to the ball every play might not be your job when it works you will look great but when it doesn't you leave you whole responsibility and then the whole defense hurts.

Bags drills do very little technique wise but they're great conditioning.
@constantlearning44335 жыл бұрын
Is that cut blocking drill more for protecting against the cut block? Not sure I understand because the way I see people teach it is that they use their forearms to hit the thigh of a player and its usually an offensive lineman that's doing it.
@CoachMorton5 жыл бұрын
The cut blocking drills is to protect from the cut blocks. The player should have one hand on the helmet and other hand on shoulder pad. They then will give a little ground backwards to keep the o line off his legs and drive the shoulder pad and helmet into the ground

At least you can duck under blocks. That's one advantage of being a small d lineman.

What we did was took out tallest lineman and made the get in good form flat back and measured their height and we did the same with our smallest lineman and made two

Yo I’m going into 7th and I’m kinda small I’m 5’6” 145 at 12 but I’m just starting puberty so hopefully I get bigger, I bench 210, squat 250, press 180. I run a 6.58 and I have a quick burst of speed. I love the Club Rip move, Chop Club, Bull Rush and Swim move. I had 24.5 sacks last season, 20 TFLs, 1 pick, 111 tackles and led the league in sacks and TFL and tackles. Do u think if I keep up the grind I could start Varsity as a freshman and make it to a D1 school?
@coxnballs3 жыл бұрын
You might make your varsity team but at your size you probably won't play d1 unless you can show you have superhuman strength. You have good strength for your size but 6.58 is quite slow even for an O lineman. How is your vertical jump?

My son is 12 and has been playing since he was 6. He is a nose guard. However, he is still not aggressive? is this normal? he has strength but he seems to be a great team player and I believe that's necessary but I sometimes worry he will get hurt. is this something he will pick up later? he really loves football.
@ms.sag-gurl18335 жыл бұрын
also, I don't believe I've ever seen them practice these moves is this something he will learn as he gets older?
@CoachMorton5 жыл бұрын
Depending on his size he might move to D end or Linebacker once he gets a little older. I see many kids at our little kids camp ages 6-14 for a week during summer. These kids are still learning proper techniques of tackling and taking on blocks. These kids eventually come into high school and are totally different players. They are bigger faster stronger and know the techniques of their position more than they were when they were 13.

@CoachMorton4 жыл бұрын
Contact the coach at your school, tell them that you are interested and they will get you hooked up. If you are just starting out the conditioning will probably be tough, just don’t give up and listen to your coach. Good luck

I played Defensive Lineman, I was a Defensive end, and honestly, some of this was just extra stuff you won't use. I played for like 7 years lmao. And I can vouch that these are just extra drills, won't actually help you.
