Canaan is best in the spring and during rainy periods. An absolute blast when the blackwater is running and the mud pits are full.

Looks like I should have gone a little further north last week. The colors were just starting to come out where I was closer to Flagpole area. And yes, pinstripes will occur on the Canaan Loop. A little more if you're in a full size though. LOL.

I think this was the 6th or 7th time I've gone out there, but I hadn't been in the early fall before. Honestly, fall colors weren't even on our minds when we planned the trip. When we got out there though we were both amazed at them. I can only image what it's going to look like in a couple of weeks, as it didn't seem like it was near peak yet.

I think you can do it. There's some sections, like right before the first water crossing, that the rocks are a bit uneven, but if you choose your line properly I think that you'd be ok.
