Define phase: Project Charter

The Define Phase is the first phase of the Six Sigma improvement process. In this phase the project team creates a Project Charter, a high-level map of the process and begins to understand the needs of the customers of the process.
This is a critical phase in which the team defines the project i.e. focus for themselves and the leadership of the organization.

Hello, thanks for the video. Quick question. Six sigma is a lot based on tolerance limits. In your example the main goal is to reduce lead time of the process from 55 to 20 days. I wonder if 20 days are a tolerance limit because from what I understand any process should have specification limits.

In the project charter, we also mention what will be the minimum value of KPI that we must get along with the target value of KPI.

These are the tolerance limits we are planning for our target. Specification limits are specified by your customer, engineering department, or NPD team based on customer expectations.
