I don't understand for the life of me why it's called a wash and go when there is about an hour of work after you wash it.

I know I'm late and you probably know this already by now. But, the name has more to do with the days you go without having to wash your hair. Some people get a week in without having to put any product or water on their hair. They just fluff their hair out in the morning for a few minutes and go. The initial wash day is just setting the hair so that you can have a low manipulation style.

OMG! I just found this method out last weekend as well. I was playing in my hair, and i knew the denman brush makes my curls pop - so decided to put a little gel on it and see if it held....I kept the style ALL WEEK! and just slightly separated the curls through the course of the weak and gave it a refresh with a spritz of water and a pat of oil each morning. BEST WASH AND GO EVER! I'm grateful someone made a video for folks struggling to find the perfect wash n go for them. this is awesome!

I know this video is old, but the stylist who did my DevaCut pointed out that so many women have the same issue in their crown because that's where we let the warm/hot water stream onto our hair. It is a form of heat damage. So, lowering the temp to where I can stand it and rinsing my hair in 2 halves helps to keep the water from concentrating on that one spot on my head has helped a lot.
@TrayceeSimmonsKISS
@TrayceeSimmonsKISS 7 жыл бұрын
tinawina That is true but it's also normal to have multiple textures . Because someone has multiple texture it doesn't me damage . It just means they have more that one curl pattern. After I went natural my family did too and we all have that loser curl pattern in the crown
@TrayceeSimmonsKISS

tinawina Oh I don't use hot water b/c I have eczema. That causes me to itch like crazy so I shower in luke warm water so that's not a issue for me

i don't let the hot water run on my crown, it hits the back of my head and neck... so by your explanation, that area should be the loosest for me. it isn't. my loose area is at the very front, close to my forehead and eyes, where I don't let the water run unless I turn around to face the water in the shower.

I find that when I use the denman after I've applied products it shrinks more but when I detangle with the denman after I've shampooed and while the dc is in it allows my curls to be more defined when I style but without the shrinkage. Have you tried conditioner only wash and goes?

It's really amazing how different hair reacts to the same product. I tried the denman brush and gel. I ended up having to cut off 3-4 inches of hair . with the brush and gel, my hair curled right up to my scalp and it actually locked. and i had problems detangling it.

+Traycee Simmons It's alright. You can learn things sometimes through trial and error. I always suspected that my hair doesn't like gel, but people had been having such marvelous results, i was like 'ITS JUST A MENTAL THING' - 'its just my imagination' -- turned out the hair doesn't like gel or the denman brush, the hair just curled right up and locked, couldn't get the thing to unfurl, and trying to wash it out made it worse.
@xBeyondMystery

Hi! I'm glad I found someone with a hair similar to mine. I even have that problem with the hair on the top of my head not curling like other parts! I recently got the Denman D41 after reading many comments about people saying that the D3 and D4 were hard for afro, thick hair (kind of my case, my hair is a bit mixed) the thing is that while it's ok to detangle, it doesn't define my curls as my old paddle brush (now broken) did , which has the rows disposed a bit closer. Apparently my curls like to stick really close together so I was wondering... would it be worth it to get a Denman D4 with closer rows? thank you!
@herlucidsky
@herlucidsky 8 жыл бұрын
Yes the denman can be tricky. I hear so many complain about it causing breakage and frizz but it's definitely all about technique and making sure to never use the denman on tangled hair. I use to specifically use the denman for shed hair removal as well as lint removal from my daughters hair. For some reason it's the most effective at removing them. As far as using the denman for wash n go's. I realized that that it was so effective at defining curls that it was the cause of excessive shrinkage so whenever I do wash no go's I only use my fingers.
@TrayceeSimmonsKISS
@TrayceeSimmonsKISS 8 жыл бұрын
Yes tons of shrinkage. I wasn't ready lol

Oh my gosh, I also bought a Denman a year ago only to be disappointed that it made my curls a frizzy mess so I've stuck to the' praying hands' method and 'raking' to define my curls. I'm so gonna try this for my next wash n go. Lately I've been using the rake and shake method and it gives amazing volume on first day hair. Have you ever tried that method before?

+KISSseventyseven but I did try it, cuz you know, even though I knew my hair hates brushes, I had to follow the natural hair hype and buy one lol. It has just been sitting here collecting dust. The tension definitely helps, plus having products that have slip to the gawds :) but I feel I lose more hair. I may need to modify mine, but yes, this was highly educational, so thanks so much. The back of my head which is 4a/b thready/cottony loved it the most, curls poppin'!!!, my 3a/b/c top low density area was straight, and my 4c cottony/kinky sides were like bih please. LOL! Yes I rep for all y'all! I love the extra curling, aka shrinkage, as it keeps the hair up off my clothes, which I need right now if I'm going to retain any length next year.
