'There is only so much chord and structures and patterns that exist' one of my biggest mistakes when i first started was that i was trying to reinvent the wheel rather than keep it simple sometimes.

I love how Scott is consistently telling the listener/student how to make your everyday 8 bar chords more characterized by adding or embellishing the same 8 bar loop. Originality is Key to your unique sound or style in an over saturated industry. Great Advice for any level of creator

I'm not good at playing in chords I drew most of that in midi, and then play melody with the keys.

@HOLLASOUNDSMUSIC that's totally OK, these days there's so many resources available to you for chord creativity it's not even funny. I'm definitely one of those people that believe making unique and memorable melodies is a good tool to expand upon. Chords can write the mood, but melodies keep us humming those tunes. 💯

@@ladyshaymusic.official Well I just have to be honest, I'm a producer and composer first and My job is to put stuff together and make it sound good as a end product. I do play in stuff but I can do far better stuff just drawing it in. People assume I play everything but no.

I feel like what he's talking about here is mostly not what we would traditionally refer to as song structure. Other than the part where he's talking about adding that other little 2 chord progression to what he already had there to make it breathe as he said. Structure to me is more the order of intro, verse, chorus, pre chorus, bridge, outro, etc, however one decides to do those things, whereas here he is talking a lot about dynamics, and adding slight variation or different instrumentation to keep it evolving and interesting, which I consider more "arrangement" or production really. But I guess different people use terms a bit differently sometimes, and language and meanings are constantly evolving, language and vocabulary is part of culture. Anyway props to Scott. Legend.

Tip..learn your major and minor triads!!! This FOUNDATION will make everything else very easy...but LEARN YOUR MAJOR SCALES AND CHORDS...Play from C to C all white notes... Now do that but start from A to A. see knowing C major taught u A minor.. eventually you'll learn the 6 is the minor of that major scale...it's more to it, but start there..
