It's Scott Storch and Mike Dean in the top 2 for me. I was always a big fan of certain producers, I just wish I'd have learned back then what production was cause I didn't learn it was accessible to me till like 2012 and you KNOW it was there way before that, too! I just had no idea what I was looking at, I remember in the early 00's I saw a laptop with fruity loops on it and I just assumed it was a drum machine. Imagine my surprise when I learned you can make entire compositions on programs like that :P

Some people might say Fat Joe fucked up by passing on the track. But the thing is, if Joe wasn't feeling it, it wasn't gonna come out good. If you're a writer you know when a beat hits you it hits you, and sometimes it doesn't. We should be thanking Joe for having the humility to pass and then 50 came in and now it's iconic.

Respect to Dre & Diddy but those guys sampled the Hell out of 70s Funk. Scott has all original keys, all original. That's Genius level work right there! I mean this man did the keys for Still Dre...try and listen to that song WITHOUT the keys and it is totally dead...Scott's keys give it Life, and Dre took Most of the credit...Scott deserves waaaaaay more recognition! @Jaylectrick I say yes and no depending on genre, artist, and type of song. A metal album like that the fans want perfection lol plus they are all playing and recording live instruments, prolly laying bed tracks with hella over dubs then a lot of time mixing and tweaking, but a hip hop song produced on a MIDI keyboard or in a DAW or even with loops (especially if u already have an idea) can be made much faster and sometimes too much or too many elements crowds the beat and messes up the beat or song!
