My first time watching a review on the channel, excellent and well balanced review. Subbed 😊 I’ve had a 2.0 Corolla GR-Sport Hybrid, currently have a Yaris GR-Sport hybrid and I’m shortly going to order a Takumi Design LBX in Ruby Red after an extensive test drive and I was super impressed with it. Notable leap in performance over my Yaris, and for what is a baby Lexus on the Yaris platform I’d go as far to say that it’s more refined than my Corolla was! 🙂

Just like the 2.0 it’s derived from it’s ridiculously over engineered, gives class leading economy and is brilliantly reliable. It’s also plenty for the Yaris platform of Toyota/Lexus products…

I keep the speed limit warning on my 12 year old SLK on but set at 5 mph above the limit. If I lived in greater London I'd definitely set it to 1 mph. I know someone who has received a ticket for 23 mph in Twickenham. I usually stick the speed limiter on 20 mph when I get there though. The LBX looks like it will fit the pensioner market perfectly. Just wondering if the LBX has the same battery problem as the Yaris Cross. I have read that many owners of the Yaris Cross suffer from the car not starting if they do lots of short journeys or if they only use the car infrequently. That's what stopped me buying one as I tend on the whole to only do short local journeys. Presumably it would be the same with the Lexus?
@DefinitelyNotAGuru

I would assume it could be but as this is a more recent release you’d think that it’s likely been fixed? I have no idea to be honest.
@nearlypastit2385
@nearlypastit2385 3 ай бұрын
@fergus ..... Lexus have used a NmHi battery in the LBX and I'm fairly certain that I've seen in another review that the LBX battery is a 'tweaked' version of the Yaris Cross battery. I've looked on line at the difference between NMHi and Lithium batteries and whilst the NMHi battery can deliver a greater surge of power, the trade-off is that they don't retain their charge for as long as a Lithium (nor, as far as I've been able to see, do they present the same severe fire problems in a possible fire) . I use my car regularly (although predominantly local runs) so having a NMHi battery is a trade-off I'm only to glad to accept with the use I'll be using my car for (I have an LBX on order). I'll be devastated if I suffer battery problems, but I'd be surprised if Lexus have produced a car that gives problems in typical use 🤞🤞🤞.

You are so wrong. 0-60 is a misleading figure as it hardly every applies to real world situation. This has better dynamics than most 150hp petrol cars, because it has 94hp electric motor. Any real world situation (specially in the city), eg. 20-50km/h acceleration is handled perfectly. It's more like electric car and has crazy direct response to gas pedal. E-CVT shines as it's crazy smooth and "instant". None of the automatic gearboxes comes even close (only pure electric cars are even better). If you never driven E-CVT from Toyota you need to try to experience it. It's nothing like typical 134hp petrol car, when it comes to dynamics in the city. Maybe on motorway you could wish for more hp, but this is city car and you can't have everything. You can still do long trips and it will be very fine (as long as you are not family of 4). 0-60 is not very good because battery is not big enough to deliver enough "juice" for this time. Any about up to 5 second lasting acceleration will be well supported by electric and you feel it. Just try.

@@stevena9305 I've done about 2k miles (but in Europe) and what I like the most is interior (get trim with LEATHER & SUEDE) , consumption and effortless handling (city and motorway). All assistance systems are also very nice, with just minor issues. If you can afford and want small car then there is really no competition. All others in this class are plastic fantastic with way less features. You can go eg. BMW, but then it's bigger car and even more expensive with questionable reliability.

@@capitalm1257 More conformable? This is quite comfy. Lexus actually deliberately made suspension bit harder to offer amazing handling. This basically flows on the road. Corners, etc you just don't think about it. On motorway steering wheel stiffens even further and it handles effortlessly. It's small car, but with real premium handling and finish. It's class on its own in this segment. There are bigger cars, more powerful etc. for similar money, but none will be with same finish and overall as whole car will be always somehow limited. It's expensive, but there is a reason for it. Top trims pack everything what you can find in RX model, so this has to cost. I done about 2k miles, it's a pleasure to drive and consumption is top class. It's not a family car. It's premium city car as a 2nd of 3rd in the household. If you can afford I recommend it.

Perhaps its aimed squarely at the over 60's audience...like the Yaris and the frumpy Corolla (being on the NEW Prius) !
