I haven't seen any trailers feature Spider-Man's other gadgets and they make combat a whole lot more interesting than just relying on web shooters. The trailers are indeed great but once you play the game, they actually don't do the game justice.

This is one of those rare examples of where the actual gameplay is just as amazing as what was shown in the E3 trailer. Like the stealth, combat and cinematic cutscene quicklimes really are that buttery smooth.

This game made me cry both tears of joy and tears of sadness. Like all great Spider-Man stories, it centers Peter’s self-sacrifice and nobility, it’s got a ton of heart, and Yuri Lowenthal absolutely kills it as Peter. It’s rare you get to hear a Spiderman who’s simultaneously heartbroken and filled with disappointed rage, but it’s absolutely believable with Lowenthal voicing the character.

I haven't seen No Way Home yet, but this is a better Spider-Man story than you've ever seen in a movie. This made me a Spider-Man fan. I had never previously been into the character on a deep level, and this game really, really worked.

I remember in a interview with a dev one of them said they were partially inspired by DMC for it's combat. It is inspired by Arkham as well but that interview drew my eye to it more. It is a pretty fun game though. I played on the higher difficulties and it was still able to be fair and fun which a lot of games struggle with. I really look forward to whatever Insomniac makes.

You guys...this GAME. As a fellow nerd who grew up with Spidey, let me just tell you that THIS game is everything you want. It's the best Spider-Man GAME, the best Spider-Man MOVIE, and involves some of the best Spider-Man STORIES adapted to the medium. You saw yourself the bit of setup for a Sinister Six storyline (though I REALLY wish they'd left that out of the promotional material, honestly...it makes for such a cool reveal mid-game if you don't know it's coming). At its core, it's kind of an Arkham City type game. Wide-open Ubisoft-style world with a ton of collectibles and side missions (which will reference and feature a TON of characters who don't have a larger role in the main story, I don't think you'll be disappointed), and a free-flowing combat style with a lot of mobility and focus on building combos to execute stronger moves. The personality is amazing though. This IS Spider-Man. All the characters are done fantastically (though prepare yourself, there seems to be a fair bit of inspiration taken more from the Ultimate universe as opposed to the more classic 616...so some characters aren't EXACTLY as you may remember them) and everything feels like it aught to feel. And there are a LOT of feels in this game. It's emotionally-driven as much as it is action-focused. I don't think it's possible to make a better Spider-Man experience. I know I'm hyping the heck out of this, but it deserves it and I don't think you'll find I oversold it should you play it yourself. I truly consider this game an absolute masterpiece. Any nitpicks I have are TINY compared to the scope of all they do incredibly, and I legit think there's only one facet of the game I didn't care for as much (which I won't spoil, but it involves a few segments told from another character's perspective). Even THOSE sections (and there weren't many) still had their good points though. I could easily gush about this game as much as I do God of War 2018. Assuming one has even a passing interest in Marvel stuff, it's one of the flagship titles for the PS4 and you owe it to yourself to check it out sometime (especially considering how much of a Spidey fan you are). :D

Another thing I've seen is that while it isn't a 1-to-1 reproduction, this is a really good representation of NYC. Some people I've seen play the game have literally been able to find places they lived.

As far as it goes for super hero video games, Spider Man PS4 is not only one of the best Spidey video games, but also just one of the best superhero games! It makes you actually feel like Spidey, punching and throwing webs and swinging through buildings, where as other gamed like the new Guardians of the Galaxy just didnt nail that core feeling of being that character. Even without the amazing story that comes with it, the game itself is so much fun and one of the only games that I continued to play and get 100% completion on it because it was so much fun to play. So yeah, highly recommened.

I've said it before, but this is a total game. Everything you can do, you should do. Almost all the side missions are important for a variety of reasons, including practicing new weapons, new fighting skills, setting up the DLC, or just muscle memory for faster and faster movement through New York. The dialog is always excellent, too. Everything about this game is awesome. There are a ton of call backs to various things in Spider-Man's world, a complete game. And, as you noticed, it is a very immersive experience. It takes about 5 seconds to start having fun in this game. This game is the best comic book story that has ever been produced, it feels like you are playing an interactive comic book. As fun as the movies are, this story beats them all, in my opinion. You're gonna have a ball!

Every review on this game had this one phrase that became a bit of a meme but it's the best way to describe the gameplay. You really feel like Spider-Man. The story pulls in from a lot of Spidey lore but doesn't expect people to know it. All the characters are compelling and really draw you into the story! Hope you maybe do a playthrough and post on the channel!

This game is epic, shame these trailers are very spoilery, I remember being a little pissed at what they showed. But it makes hell of a trailer. Controlls in this game are superb imo, and very intuitive once you get a little practice. It lost GOTY to God of War, but 2018 was beast of a year for games.

For the webshooters you technically don't reload them for anything except for you're web gadgets but those I bileve are in cooldown or gain them back through combos by beating up badies and one other note love the amount of costumes you can earn and some from the actual movies I love this game so much

If you kick/throw enemies off rooftops, they get pulled in and stuck to the wall automatically (as if they had that gadget stuck to them). Handily avoids the issue of Spider-Man killing people. You can actually climb down the wall and see them stuck there XD

if the dude at 3:44 fell and the player didnt catch him the game has a mechanic that makes them web and stick to the nearest wall. the only reason the player catched him back here is to get the pg friendly spiderman :D

Combat is inspired by the Arkham series combat. The stealth part of the game challenging enough, you have gadgets that can make it a lot easier. If Peter does end up knocking out an enemy off a building, you attach a gadget that makes them stick to a wall since Peter does not kill. I agree Wilson Fisk has always been a Spidey villian, so I can't wait for him to enter the MCU. Charlie's Daredevil is brilliant and can't wait for him to return, I also keep forgetting Charlie is British. You'll love this game, truly the best Spider-Man game since Spider-Man 2 and Shattered Dimensions.

I gave up on Spider-Man games a long time ago. Maximum Carnage in Sega Genesis was last one that I really liked but haven’t played ones you mentioned. They just never seemed to capture Spider-Man well. It always pissed me off that in the big group games like Ultimate Alliance or the mobile games Contest of Champions etc….Spidey was never fun to play with and usually one of the worst characters. This game seems to capture the Spider-Man I grew up loving 😍🤩

I dont know if you guys have the PS5 but if you do then try playing that version because it has a major difference and that is Peter's face. Yeah the developers for some reason decided to change Peter's face model for the new generation console and now its the canonical version from now and future games (99.9% of us gamers actually prefer the old face model but oh well) I say this because if you plan to play Spiderman miles morales or Spiderman 2 in the future you will see the new face model instead of the PS4 one.

If you drop enemies off high buildings, a trip mine automatically gets onto the enemy and the enemy just sticks to the nearest wall. Also, spider man isn't a kid in this one, he's 22 or something I think

We are way more familiar with Spider-Man and Marvel than we are DC but we love experiencing both. DC is like a brand new world to us because we are really only familiar with the movies. But Marvel we consume a lot and I’ve read a bunch of the comics growing up. Mainly Spidey of course 😍😎😁

You don’t run out of web fluid as it is vital for traversal but more advanced applications (e.g. impact webbing) have limited uses and have to be unlocked, representing Peter’s work to invent new techniques and technologies.

I love this game and I love Spider-Man miles morales and I can’t wait for Spider-Man 2 ps5. The swinging mechanics are so much fun the combat is amazing, the story is amazing. Side missions are fun except one side mission. I was playing this game on my ps5 and I was swinging for hours. These games it makes you feel like you are in New York and you feel like you are Spider-Man.

Update 2022: I had a good news that Spider-Man 2 which this game will be released in Autumn of 2023! I've been a big fan of Spider-Man after I watched Tobey Maguire's trilogy and The Spectacular Spider-Man in Indonesian dubbed, then Andrew Garfield's duology and Tom Holland's first trilogy while the Tom's second trilogy has been planned by Sony and Marvel! The most my favorite of all film is Spider-Man: No Way Home for the best story, audience reaction, awards and critics including how Tom with Tobey and Andrew become the Spider-Bros!

This game and Ghost of Tsushima are the main two reasons I want to buy a PS5 in the future (hopefully after my exams) even though I'm an Xbox guy. I just love Spiderman maybe that's why and also love Assasins Creed (which is why I want to play GOT).

We did. We loved it. Far and away the best MCU edition Spider-Man movie and also our favorite overall Spidey movie. Had it all. Fun reveals. Lots of fist bump cheering moments. Crying. Heartfelt emotions. Some laughs. It was great 🤩
