I wish more doctors knew and taught this. I just switched primacy care doctors before the lock down. But he told me taking Estrogen was too radical and he is one of the top doctors in the country! Women get these ideas from their doctors. My new primary care doctor is not the one who prescribes me Estradiol but he says Vitamin D and Calcium are enough which I know is ridiculous. I had to learn all of this on my own I read the Whole body approach to Osteoporosis and it is a great book best on the market I read many others it is the best but doesn't address menopause because the book is for men and women. The author is a man who had 12 fractures after having been an Olympic athlete but it does say women need Estradiol supplements are not enough and it took me several years then I finally found your channel. You are a gift to women! It took me 4 years to go from 3.9 to 3.0 and 2.6 Thank you for this education!

Dr. Taylor, I JUST found out on my DEXA scan that I have full osteoporosis at age 52! I'm tiny, I never took calcium, but just started HRT 6 months ago. My obgyn says the estrogen will help. Can it actually reverse osteoporosis if I take estrogen, calcium and do more weight bearing exercises? Thanks for all you do!!! We love you!!!

I sent this message to my mom after watching this- Oh man- This is so good at telling you what osteoporosis really is. It’s the first time I am watching it. I have watched ALL the episodes in this playlist up to this point. Hopefully I will get through all the rest within a month and then just keep up with the one a month that comes out. I am glad I watched them all even though I would have rather focused on other things. At least now I have a good foundation on how to deal with getting older and how to take care of myself. ..I am glad though that you are trying to take care of yourself the best you can. I am too and that probably brings you relief that I take care of me now. Love you!

Thank you so much for another fantastic, easy to understand video. I have been put into early menopause due to cancer treatment and am now considering hormone replacement therapy, however there is a lot of scaremongering and misinformation out there. Sadly, it is often women who frighten other women and we don't get the treatment we need! At 41, it makes sense to me that body identical estrogen and progesterone are really just giving me back what I would have had had my ovaries not been fried with radiation before their time. Consequently my bones will then get what they need too. Thanks again for your straight forward, yet compassionate approach to this issue.

I am so grateful that you started this series. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have mentioned your hand arthritis before. I too have osteoarthritis in my hands, hips, back, right knee, and both feet and it's severe for sure. I can no longer take nsaids due to painful tummy side effects. I have used my own body as a lab rat for experimentation for multiple remedies. I have found that using estrogen creams on these joints does more to alleviate the pain than horse liniment, CBD oil, or capascain creams or anything else I have tried from mentholatum to aspercream. Someday I would really like a little education on this subject. You must know a lot you have it too. Maybe a whole book on it's own, you probably know that much. Until then I will just keep doing what works for me & many of my friends, family & in-laws whom I have had to recommend your videos to so that you could alleviate their fear of that much estrogen and it's working for many of them too. Thank you so much for what you do.

I am quite curious with regarding the Estrogen cream you use on your joints. Is this the same gel/cream that is used as part of HRT..if this is the case, do you use the amount your Obstetrician advised and spread it on your aching joints?

I called my doctor today to ask about HRT and the risks of menopause for the heart and bones (I thought, let's leave the brain out of it for now) and he said "there are no studies that prove that hormones help cardiovascular disease after menopause" and "well, if at some point you get osteopenia, then we will start you on calcium and vitamin D", and I thought to myself "whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat??!?! Red flags!!" He clearly hasn't read the latest articles on HRT decreasing all cause mortality nor the latest statement by the American Heart Association and he obviously doesn't understand how bones work. And he is the head of the gynaecological unit in a very big private hospital in Athens, Greece, so he holds a very prestigious position and patients tend to trust him blindly. If this is what doctors tell their female patients, I am not surprised that women get everything wrong. Thank God you are here! You have given me the insight to understand when a doctor is ill-informed. Thank you so much!😍😍😍😍😍

@@MenopauseTaylor I am watching them in order, in fact, I am bindgewatching them! I know you must be referring to the video about how to "politically correctly" ask for what you want, which was way back, I have seen that one! I've been worried about this subject because I have been told I can't take estrogen because I have had breast cancer. I hope you will speak to this, because there are a lot of us survivors out there who have been told it would be too dangerous for us to take estrogen.

Christine, I will not address this in the osteoporosis unit. I will address it in the breast cancer unit ... but that is a looooooong way off. You need to have this information NOW. What are your thoughts on supplements? Do you have a Vitamin D3 recommendation?
@MenopauseTaylor4 жыл бұрын
Julie, Your question is very general and very broad. I have given multiple videos on supplements. If you aren't watching my videos in order, you've missed them. You should watch videos 119 - 124, in order. Nothing is abut "what I think." I give you facts. And the fact is that supplements should supplement your diet. If you thin you can get the same benefit out of a bottle that you can get from food, you're dreaming. Unfortunately, that's what most people think.
@juliea.4 жыл бұрын
@@MenopauseTaylor I feel like I insulted you by asking you a question. I recently subscribed at the recommendation of Angie Hot and Flashy, and I just started watching your channel. Your videos are so informative and well-organized, and I've been watching them as they pop up on my notification list. I meant no disrespect to you by asking you about supplements. A few years ago I was prescribed a Vitamin D pill, but stopped taking it after a month. I don't take supplements at all, but am bombarded with advertisements on every digital platform I visit (much of it having to do with bones, Vitamin D, etc.), and I think they're all full of hype and false-promises: "Take this and your bones will be strong forever!"

Hi Barbie, I was just wondering if estrogen can reverse osteoporosis?
@MenopauseTaylor4 жыл бұрын
Be careful, Darlene. Do not extrapolate. Estrogen loss causes bone loss. Therefore, estrogen replacement stops bone loss. So estrogen can prevent you from losing more bone ... but that is not the same as replacing lost bone. There are bone-building medications for that.

Does a DEXA scan measure bone quantity or bone quality? How do they measure bone quality?
@MenopauseTaylor4 жыл бұрын
I'll be giving you an entire video on this, of course. It's video # 204 (airing on June 16). It actually measures bone quantity ... but does so by measuring bone mineral density. It's the best thing we've got. In that video, I'll tell you the differences between different machines.

In some of your videos you say that the lack of oestrogen can cause breast cancer. I don't think you have explained this yet. I would like to know why, especially since most women think taking HRT causes breast cancer. Will you explain in later videos? Or should I have missed it, in which video can I find it?
@MenopauseTaylor4 жыл бұрын
Leen, I cover everything in units. This osteoporosis unit will entail 35 videos. The next big unit will be on Alzheimer's, and entail 40 videos. After that I will start the units on the various cancers. And I assure you that the breast cancer videos will number close to 50. I have not addressed what you have written. I think you have misunderstood some things. Estrogen does not cause breast cancer. But absence of estrogen does not cause it, either. Please consider scheduling a consultation with me to get the facts and make sure that your misunderstandings do not continue.
