This movie was a staple of my Christmas history in my home when I was growing up. And i loved even more that I had introduced it to my daughter when she was 8. We sat down and watched it and laughed like you wouldn't believe. She's grown up now, but we still have great memories and reference the movie whenever we need a good laugh. Merry Christmas to all.

Also the pool was at the Warner Ranch and is the same one from Christmas Vacation (they built a fake YMCA over it.) Billy’s house was also there but the whole ranch was recently town down.

I saw this movie when I was 9. I loved this movie as a child and still do. I also watched Poltergeist as a child actually. I was allowed to watch horror as a child, yes. Those were probably my two favorite movies back then. Gremlins is amazing. I had a little Mogwai stuffed toy too. So cute

One of the best things about the Gremlins franchise if you can call it that is that it has not been destroyed by the movie industry of today. No sad remakes no unwanted sequels. Just 2 great movies that can be enjoyed in succession or on their own. Love 'em both though this one is probably my fave. Great review as always... merry christmas HS

Was I the only one who laughed out loud when she relayed how her Dad died and was found? I burst out laughing. My classmates watching it as a classroom Christmas movie thought I was “really mean,” not getting the holiday spirit. Lol. I'm like the whole movie had those twisted quips as you pointed out.

I remember when I first saw this back in like 1986 when I was like 7. The 80's might of been the best era for classic movies that you can rewatch every year around Christmas time. I think making the movie PG was the way to go with this one because it made it more of a family movie and not a teen to young adult movie. I wonder where my Gismo toy is now?? Also my brother and I had the Star Wars Vader head that held all the figures, all gone now. UGH..

As a 14yr old boy in Liverpool, I had a choice between this and Ghostbusters - I chose Gremlins. The biggest mistake of my young life! Gremlins 2 was the best of all the Gremlins and every Ghostbuster film.

I think the boy in the Yankees hat's vest was supposed to symbolize Han Solo mixed with Short Round so we get a nod to both films. That's just my personal thoughts. Great breakdown as always!

My favorite Gremlin reference is from The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode where a gremlin monster is attacking the school bus. Bart yells, "THERES A GREMLIN ON THE SIDE OF THE BUS!!", but when Otto looks in the mirror, all he sees is an actual AMC Gremlin car... and then he runs it off the road.

I appreciated the dark comedy of Santa (dad) falling down in the chimney and breaking his neck. It provides a mix of negative emotions and feelings with dark humor, truth, and reality. An age restriction of 12 and over would be appropriate.

One of the two police officers who crashes into the insurance building is the same actor who played Mike from Breaking Bad. I always liked to think this was in the same universe and the gremlins attack was why he transferred to New Mexico and became all grizzled
